If you're shopping for one of these models or perhaps already own one, take a look at our 2006 comparison. Tell us what you think. Agree? Disagree?

Uh, ok... the '07 Sienna, which hits the market in December.... will have a significantly different Powertrain, along with myriad other revisions...The text notes that the Sienna is the slowest. DUH!!! Why not mention that the version available in a month will pack a punch with 50 more horses?

So, why test the '06, and why with AWD? Omitting that option would have put the vehicles price more on par with the Ody's.

I drove ody and sienna back to back last year - Didn't drive Sedona.
If you want UNSURPASSED comfort, quality and luxury, Sienna it is. - of course I brought it
If you want the fun factor, then Ody is the way to do. But I somehow found that the "instant apparent quality" you experience stepping into a Sienna, missing in an Ody.
The only thing missing in Sienna's arsenal is power and I hope that it will be duly addressed in the upcoming '07 model.

Why wasn't any one of the GM minivans included in your comparison? They wern't included in the 2004 comparison because they wern't on the market at the time, but speaking of new and redesigned, doesn't the GM minivans meet your expectations?

Why test the 06 model? by to626n

As previously stated the new 2007 Sienna will pack the new corporate 3.5 liter engine used in various Toyota and Lexus models.

It would have been more fair to test the regular FWD version of the Sienna. It would have been cheaper and faster. Edmunds will not do another minivan comparo until the Town And Country is redesigned.

It really doesn't matter. Toyota will lose anyways since it is not fun to drive compared to Honda

That's not true. You act as if edmunds.com has some bias for Hondas. This typically may seem to be the case for C/D, but not at edmunds. Case in point - the Camry XLE beat the Accord EX, Sonata LX, and Fusion SEL in their last family sedan comparo. Although I don't always agree with edmunds.com testing methodologies, if anything, they are fair.

I certainly think that better fuel efficiency, more power, and the $3,200 (omit AWD and accessory options) savings noted in the edmunds.com text COULD have made a difference.

From the edmunds:
Accord's total score was only a fraction of a point behind the all-new 2007 Toyota Camry. Where the Camry excelled in performance, the Accord did so in feature content. Where the Camry was strong in our 24-point evaluation, the Accord was better on price.

Remember, the 2007 Camry is brand new, but the accord isn't.
When the 2008 Accord comes out, I bet it will beat the Camry in their test.
I agree with you about methodlogies. The fun-to-drive factor and performance is just too important for them ,but the majority of buyers don't think so. They are biased toward Honda not because it's a Honda , but it is some kind of performance-oriented car or fun-to-drive car.

I'm not sure what point your making, but this thread is about the minivan comparo, I only used the midsizers to illustrate the point that the Camry won, even if by narrow margins (you'll note though, that the text of the article GUSHES over the Camry, and edmunds.com editiors themselves were surprised the Camry won by such a small margin, given their general affinity towards it.)

Edmunds.com is NOT biased toward Honda, but the Ody won this comparo. Deal with it. I would have liked to have seen the '07s tested, but the simple fact is that Honda builds tremendous products. When they deserve to win comparos, they do. This does not mean that a publication is biased.
