I'm going back and forth on whether I should buy an EW for my new 07 CRV. Based on these the two previous messages, it sounds like I shouldn't. However, the thought that keeps rattling around in my head is that it's a redesign year. Of course, I've heard that Honda is known for getting the quirks out of the way before the cars hit the sales floors, but there is another forum dedicated to a engine issue.

We thought the same thing when we bought our '03 Honda Accord. But our worst nightmare came true, a first year car filled with bugs. The car had numerous creaks & rattles resulting in complete removal of the headliner and side curtain airbags. Also, the transmission, rear struts, and tie rod ends failed around 40k miles....a Honda? yes a Honda.

Another example is our '06 Odyssey purchased April '06. It has a droning defect carried over from '05 & I heard the '07's still have the problem. Also, our front brake pads were defective like the '05's.

It really takes about 3 years to work all the bugs out of a Honda re-design. If the new CRV is an exception then be thankful.

I've been following the '07 Toyota Camry redesign and it had a major transmission failure occurance in the V6 models + hesitation issues w/4cyl. Toyota seems a lot more aggressive in fixing their bugs.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. Just keep reading these forums to find out what "hidden" issues may be lerking with a new car.

I'm picking up the CRV this week. Can I wait to purchase the EW? If so, how long can I wait?

"I had a 100k mile Honda warranty on our Oddysey van but NEVER used it! "

We just used the extended warranty on our 2002 Civic for a cracked engine mount. The HondaCare warranty actually covers lots of stuff that should not break. It doesn't cover items that wear, like belts, tires, etc. These would be expected to be replaced at the appropriate intervals.

People should also realize that they can turn in the warranty for a pro rated refund at any time.

I took my CRV for a spin in the parking lot and heard the grinding noise from the rear axle. I called Honda Americas and got a case number for this issue they also told they have not heard anybody reporting this problem not sure what they are trying to convey. I have fixed an appointment at the dealer on 29-Jan-2007 lets see what they say.

Please suggest..

My dealer clarified to me he had not heard from Honda America about the differential problem, but from the Honda techline on how to repair it.

On my work order he contacted Honda techline and then ordered a new rear differential pump assembly. I am waiting till this part comes in to make an appointment for the fix.

As far as I know from posts on this and another forum Honda America is still saying they have no knowledge of this problem,(which I don't believe). I really can't say if they actually contacted any dealer.

I think if this problem becomes very widespread Honda America will have to issue a TSB which should be sent to the owners and dealers.

Obviously now they are in cover up mode because when i originally talked with honda of america they told me there were hundreds of cars affected. guaranteed that person doesn't work for them anymore. I bought my car in Annapolis, MD however they fixed it for me at Jim White Honda in Maumee, OH. I brought them my car only a week after honda released the new CR-V back in the beginning of october and they were really nice about it and they contacted honda of america and got it fixed. If you call there just ask to the talk to the head service guy.

I want to make sure I am understanding all of the correctly. Since everything I have read in this thread is talking about the rear differential, this issue is just with the AWD models. Is that correct?
