Im trying to decide on lower body finish. Though I prefer the look of the standard matt black lower cladding, however it was suggested if damaged that the lower panel in metal is more forgiving and minor damage is more easily repaiarable. My intent is not to offroad but I do camp and fish alot. Also is there any compelling reason for 4WD if offroading is not plan? Replies to this message: 3screwsloose (Jan 27, 2007 6:40 am)

Replying to: dfincher (Nov 08, 2006 7:06 pm) Compelling? Not really, you probably know it can adversely affect the fuel economy. A lot of manufacturers are touting the advantage of AWD. It can be beneficial in certain conditions. 2WD can be beneficial in certain conditions. My Mariner Hybrid ( AWD )has no acceleration slip reduction system, or electronic skid protection ( ASR, ESP ), but does have ABS ( anti-lock brake system ). It is not designed or intended for off road use. The AWD option costs more and may help you depending on where/how you drive. Mine was only available with AWD. So far ( 13K mi ), so good.
