They must be, because the only SEs I've seen on a dealer lot are fully loaded automatics with the Sun & Sound package, which list for well over $16k. It's a better value in base SE form I think, at invoice or below and with the $500 rebate. Those must go fast though.

Yeah you're right. I saw the Kia Logo on same engine covers somewhere. Its a Kia engine.

I guess not. Maybe you tested a new one. It becomes softer after 5,000 miles. Mine is on 8,300 now. I think it needs a break-in. Some say, Yaris is much noisier.

Hyundai's CVVT Alpha II engine used in the 2006+ Accent is also used in the 2006+ Rio, which shares the same platform as the Accent. So it's a Hyundai engine, but used by Kia also.
