does anyone know if mitsu will introduce any nice september deals on the outlander? What kind of deals should I hope to get for leasing? I am hoping to get a fully loaded AWD!

Hello, I am hoping to stop by a Mitsubishi dealership tonight to check out the Outlander. I am fairly new to my research but have considered the usual lineup (CRV, Rav4, Santa Fe, Vue, Outback, Mazda 6) and all have something that makes it a no-go. The Outlander *sounds* like it may be the one. I wonder if I could ask a couple of questions: It seems almost everyone goes for the XLS trim. I am not looking for all the high tech options (nice as they would be, $20K is about my top price). I am looking at maybe the ES trim and wondered what would be a target price to look for? Are there going to be 2008 models? Are these cars hard to find? I have never seen one being driven. I'm not sure if I would go for a new 2007, or if there would be any used 2007s out there. Do they come in manual transmission? (I realize I can find this out at the dealership, I just thought I'd throw it out there). I saw online that they had (I think) ES trims for $24,XXX which of course seemed high to me. I'm thinking right around $20K would be right - is that correct? Any tips on how to avoid the horrendous negotiating? Does it help to go through the internet sales manager? Seems like many people have had good experiences here. Thank you for any help you can offer - it sounds like almost everyone is very happy with the car. |

At this time of the year, when 2008 model is expected, the deals for 2007 models are better. All 2007 models come with V6 and auto transmission, which also has a manual mode. There are rumors of 2008 4-cylinder model, which would might have a manual transmission version. |

They would make more money, if you decide to buy used, I just saw dealer add for 2007 LS with Sun/Sound Pkg, 8K miles for $19.995 No, no manual, you can check everything yourself on Mitsubishicars.com, build your own model, check prices and send requests to few dealers. 24.3K is a MSRP for LS AWD. Try to make the deal thru emails and over the phone with Internet Managers and meet with only one with the best offer, just to sign the papers. May not be as easy as it sounds, but still better than just walk in from the street. You have better chances with bigger ones, be prepare for more pressure as well. Don't go alone, don't show how much you like the car, insist on the color and options you really want, do not agree to any service contracts, appearance packages, window etching, paint protection, etc. Good luck, let us know how you did.

I test drove an ES (so I understand it was basic), but I felt the interior plastics were really, really cheap looking, the seats (black fabric) would pick up every bit of lint I'm sure, and I just didn't love it. It's still a contender, for sure, but I thought this would be it. I liked the tailgate. I think it looks a little like the old Saturn Vue (boxy), so I'm hoping that was just my thoughts. The dealership, on the other hand, stunk. I had been going through internet to avoid the cheese factor, but it didn't seem to help. The 'sales manager' pawned me off onto a sales associate whose first question was 'will someone be cosigning?'....I'm a 33 year old woman, married, with a child - and I'll be paying cash for the car - I just felt really insulted. Did she think I was 16? She knew none of my answers, and it just seemed really 'ugh'. The 'sales manager' then showed me the invoice, as requested...I'm not sure if it was real or not. The ES had an invoice price of $20,686 + $625 destination fee, for a total price of $21,206. I would be very interested in a used, low miles, good price, but I didn't see any around here. In fact, the only one the dealership had was white and I don't want that one. Sorry to be so wordy, but I want to get this right. I am still interested (I have a small baby and a dog - seems like a good car). I keep going back to the Vue as I did feel it was nicer quality, but I know the reliability may be questionable, and the fuel economy was not good. Do you know if you can get leather seats in the Outlander without the XLS expensive upgrades? If I am interested in the car, I will call/fax/email other dealerships to see what their prices are - I was just disappointed with my experience this afternoon. Any opinions on the different trims, other than getting the XLS for the fancy audio upgrades (I had mentioned nice as they would be, I can't really go for that). And how do you guys feel about the cheap feeling plastic interior? Also, I felt the seats seemed a little cheap too. Maybe I'm just mad right now  Thanks -Sarah
