STATUS UPDATE

First of all, I want to thank those of you who have replied to my thread. This was an "eye-opening" experience for me and I hope it will be helpful to others who review this thread.

OK, I went to the Dealer today and they gave me carbon-copies of my documents that the Finance Mgr had initialed and scratched off the words 'Used' and wrote in the word 'New'. He said he caught this clerical error and initialed the changes before sending them to Mitsubishi/Finance Co./State Dept of Revenue.

He along with the Sales Mgr and my Sales Rep swore up and down that this was a New car and that I had nothing to worry about and they even acted surprised by my concern.

I expressed my concerns about warranties/lemon law and
they said that my car has not been titled and what the Warranties and Lemon Laws look at are the Date of Delivery (when I took possession)of the car and that I'm the original owner.

Finance Mgr said that if I'm still concerned, I should wait until I receive my first pay statement from Mitsu Finance and then I can contact them to confirm title.

A co-worker also suggested I call the Secretary of State in a few weeks to see if they have any record of any other title holder to my car, which I will do.

I also did a quick CARFAX check and no records were returned for the VIN #. (which is a good thing) I'm going to wait a few more weeks and check again and purchase a complete report to be sure.

Regarding the question of the Muroney sticker, it was placed in the binder along with the Owner's Manual because the car was being washed when we went to pick it up. No other sticker was included/visible. The sticker shows that car was delivered to another Mitsu dealer in Illinois which is about 40 miles away, which may account for the mileage assuming it was driven from there to my dealership.

I'll provide another update in about a month after the paperwork gets filed.

BOTTOM LINE/Moral of Story:
============================
Review every sales document carefully and make sure every "i" is dotted and every "t" is crossed before you sign and leave the dealership.

What rate did they finance you at the 0% or 2.9%? And is that 26500 OTD?

Believe what they say about buying toward the end of the month. Got my LS at $1,700 under invoice, plus the $1,000 rebate....so $2,700 under invoice...or $19,050 after all rebates and dealer discounts. I got the LS with no additional options.

This is great price. What was the finance rate, or did you pay cash?

paid cash. I couldn't get any other dealerships to go much under invoice, but the dealership I bot from needed the sale to meet their monthly sales quota. Only had it for a day now, but I love it so far.

Good for you. I just signed deal on mine (09/01), it is XLS AWD with Protection Pkg only. I paid $22.495 (~ $2000 under invoice) + low, 1.9% financing + lifetime oil changes. Surprisingly they even agreed on numbers I wanted for my trade. Pretty desperate ???

Nice deals the both of you. I'm planning on purchasing my Outlander this Wednesday or Thursday if the dealer holds her word the the amount she specified. I narrowed my choices to 3 dealerships and one of them will earn my business. If they decide to play difficult I'll just wait until the end of the month or even later.
