Hey NASDACYC Definitely do not give in to the NOrcal Dealers Until you get it close to 28,000! i got a fully loaded 4wd XLS for 28,000 flat. You gotta play hard ball. Veracom and Serramonte refused to go under 28,400. Steven's Creek and Capitol (OWNED by same dude and share inventory)are the volume dealers and that who i got down to 28,000 flat. East Bay mitsubishi is in the equation too, but they were a little more deceptive in the pricing they gave me. Just call around and have them beat each other, but you have to be ready to buy because when you are at 28,300 or 28,500 >> I love using the power of "hey if you give me 28,000 flat (or lower) i will come and sign the papers tonite. anyways good luck man.

I just took home a fully loaded 2007 Outlander XLS with a Sales Price of $26599 (before taxes, title, etc.) and got the 1.9%APR for 48 months. Good deal right? Well, it wasn't until late last night as I was reviewing the sales & finance contracts that my "new" XLS is actually marked as a USED vehicle?!?! Odometer had 55 miles and when I inquired why so high from the Business Mgr he said it can be as high as 150 miles depending on where the car came from. Here's the thing, I never once expressed verbally or in writing that I wanted to buy a used car. I'm going to the Dealership and ask them what's going on. My first thought was that it was a typo but I see my car marked as USED on the Bill of Sale, Finance Contract and State Tax form. I'm going to demand that they explain what they mean by "Used" and why they didn't tell me this up front. I blame myself for not catching this sooner as I was focused on the $$$'s. Maybe it's an honest mistake but I'm going to ask for a Title History and I've already checked the BBB on the dealer and checked the Illinois Attorney General's office for more info. Has anyone run into this situation before and how did you handle this with dealer? Thanks in advance for your input. Razov09 |

Replying to: toomanyfumes (Aug 29, 2007 4:54 pm) First of all, I want to thank those of you who have replied to my thread. This was an "eye-opening" experience for me and I hope it will be helpful to others who review this thread. OK, I went to the Dealer today and they gave me carbon-copies of my documents that the Finance Mgr had initialed and scratched off the words 'Used' and wrote in the word 'New'. He said he caught this clerical error and initialed the changes before sending them to Mitsubishi/Finance Co./State Dept of Revenue. He along with the Sales Mgr and my Sales Rep swore up and down that this was a New car and that I had nothing to worry about and they even acted surprised by my concern. I expressed my concerns about warranties/lemon law and they said that my car has not been titled and what the Warranties and Lemon Laws look at are the Date of Delivery (when I took possession)of the car and that I'm the original owner. Finance Mgr said that if I'm still concerned, I should wait until I receive my first pay statement from Mitsu Finance and then I can contact them to confirm title. A co-worker also suggested I call the Secretary of State in a few weeks to see if they have any record of any other title holder to my car, which I will do. I also did a quick CARFAX check and no records were returned for the VIN #. (which is a good thing) I'm going to wait a few more weeks and check again and purchase a complete report to be sure. Regarding the question of the Muroney sticker, it was placed in the binder along with the Owner's Manual because the car was being washed when we went to pick it up. No other sticker was included/visible. The sticker shows that car was delivered to another Mitsu dealer in Illinois which is about 40 miles away, which may account for the mileage assuming it was driven from there to my dealership. I'll provide another update in about a month after the paperwork gets filed. BOTTOM LINE/Moral of Story: ============================ Review every sales document carefully and make sure every "i" is dotted and every "t" is crossed before you sign and leave the dealership.
