I don't know what a severe service interval would be (don't see may Priuses towing or being used as cabs), but the normal interval is 5,000 miles. Just like my '97 Outback. If anything, the Prius should take the lead with a standard 15,000 or 20,000 mile interval.

To state the absolute obvious, it does pose the question: if Prius' operate so clean/ly why does it need so frequent OCI's (with exponentially better oil chemistries) that are the equivalent of the OCI's of the 1950/60/70/80's cars (with exponentially worse oil chemistries) !!!???

"...Diesel that has ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel..."

Havn't all diesels made in the US since 2007 had to run on ultra low-sulfur? So that's nothing to brag about.

It is nice to see Ford bringing new diesels to the market though. How about something smaller than a 6.4L?

You beat me to it Farmer. How about an F150 with a 3.2L diesel? Ford proves again that none of the Big 3 have a clue as to what the market needs and wants.

Yes or how about a Ranger-size truck with that 3.2L engine. Not that I want a Ranger; could Ford please redesign that! How long has it been 10 years since a redesign on the Ranger?

And at the same time maybe they could have Banks Engineering modify the engine design to put out close to the same power as the 6.4L that Ford will give you.

I think Ford almost dropped its Ranger line. I have a 1999 Ranger that is lucky to get any better mileage than a full sized PU. Ford sells a great diesel Ranger in just about every country except the USA. That is sad but true. Our government, with taxes and regulations, have managed to block all high mileage PU trucks from getting into our closed society.

GW cultist try to discredit new President of the EU by gagrice

Beware the church of climate alarm
As the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, an economist, anti-totalitarian and climate change sceptic, prepares to take up the rotating presidency of the European Union next year, climate alarmists are doing their best to traduce him.

The New York Times opened a profile of Klaus, 67, this week with a quote from a 1980s communist secret agent's report, claiming he behaves like a "rejected genius", and asserts there is "palpable fear" he will "embarrass" the EU.

But the real fear driving climate alarmists wild is that a more rational approach to the fundamentalist religion of global warming may be in the ascendancy - whether in the parliamentary offices of the world's largest trading bloc or in the living rooms of Blacktown.

As the global financial crisis takes hold, perhaps people are starting to wonder whether the so-called precautionary principle, which would have us accept enormous new taxes in the guise of an emissions trading scheme and curtail economic growth, is justified, based on what we actually know about climate.

One of Australia's leading enviro-sceptics, the geologist and University of Adelaide professor Ian Plimer, 62, says he has noticed audiences becoming more receptive to his message that climate change has always occurred and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

Yes, I guess the "Ice Age" ended because Mamouths started driving Hemi Rams. Or was it the Mamouth manure? I think we greatly exadurate the influence humans have on the universe. I don't think humans could influence the climate, even if we tried. Of course, this doesn't mean we shouldn't conserve energy, and reduce pollution, for our own health.
