| Thanks to 892 and 893. Will use 5w20 for sure. Already ordered Hyundai filters from Frank Motors via Ebay so may have paid too much versus Fram, but until warranty runs out I'll play it safe, | |

Used 09 Santa Fe SE AWD. Cruise will not hold speed in Drive on slight freeway uphill grade. Loses 4-5 MPH or possibly more as I turned it off at 5 MPH loss. Also, will not hold speed at all on downhill, no apparent engine breaking or downshifting. Will ask dealer to fix this week. Hope this is not classified as "normal". Getting exactly 20 MPG on mostly freeway driving at 60 MPH, 30 psi at 6200 miles, and am a little disappointed. Speed in reverse seems way too fast, and requires riding brakes. Plan to ask dealer to change door locks to lock automatically, if possible.

My 2007 Santa Fe Limited has been great until this last Friday. First about about 4 days before this the battery bites the dust with no warning. I have that replaced and the charging system checked. It was fine until Friday, on the way home work, my wife says it wouldn't go over 40. The ABS felt like it was cutting in and the engine was cutting out. She barely made it home. I get home and go out to start it and get nothing, not even a click. I flicked the headlight switch, nothing. I then try to start one more time and it starts like there is no problem. Go figure! I called the dealer to schedule an appointment and he says they are booked until the 16th. What! He says with all the recalls they are swamped. I say for a fairly new car is that the best you can do. He says sorry....This is no way to treat a customer. I let it sit until this morning and decide to test it out. It starts okay, but as soon as I try to accelerate, the engine cuts out, the ABS feels like its kicking in and just about every warning light comes on. Then, it smooths out. I decide to take onto the highway and it runs fine for a few miles until I stop and start out again. Then it becomes a bucking bronco again with the engine cutting out and abs kicking in. I couldn't get above 35 mph. I barely made it home. The ABS, TPMS, ESC, BRAKE warning lights were some of the ones I could remember that came on. Obviously, the car is not safe to drive to the dealership. I'm going to demand they tow it. The issue is what to do if they can't look at for a week? I wonder if the warrantly will still cover this electrical issue? Oh yeah, and my original tires are worn out which I think is premature. The insides are down to smooth rubber. This last bit of wear happened fast. I watch my tires closely. It must have started right after they replaced the front stabilizer that was rattling. I think they messed up the alignment when they did this. |

Has any one experience during cold starts (car park for over 5 hours) during fast idle the rpm stumbles for a couple of seconds follow by a strange smell (black smoke smell ) then goes back to normal fast idle. once the engine reaches proper operating temp. it seems to idle about 600 rpm and just runs normal and just once in a while it drops rpm to 500, but the most strange thing is that the check engine light does not light up for either event. I only have about 13,000 miles on the clock. i want to take it back but with out the check engine light on, i dont know if they would be able to figure it out. This is so ironic; usually people complaint when that light comes on for any reason. Here i am looking for it so i can be fix. any sugestions are welcome. |
