Since we're stuck with it, it would be nice to warn others. maybe I should paint it lemon yellow. and I heard about the 2008 hybrid from my husband who reads all those car magazines and online things. he knows everything before everyone. It's delayed. they're changing EVERYTHING. it won't be like ours at all. it's a totally different system...brand new...which means we are going to be stuck with exactly what you said...no support for a failed product. And if it hasn't failed, why reinvent the entire hybrid system on the 2008?

They are sort of oblivious to things like safety issues, as opposed to "more important" carbon issues. I purchased the Vue Green Line because I am tall, and was seriously injured in a car accident a few years back, and need the additional protection of a larger vehicle. I also liked the idea of 6 cylinder performance with 4 cylinder gas mileage, which the Green Line has unequivocally delivered. But ultimately, safety to me means a vehicle that won't cease to operate in traffic, leading to another serious injury. It is nice to know Hybridvue has one of the good vehicles (he is lucky). He is well meaning, but seems to be insulated from reality. You are probably right about the other response. Most likely someone from Saturn. chmsomm

On the issue of people with problems with the Green Line. I think it is a matter of percentages. There were less than 7000 sold. 1. What percentage had serious (harness, battery, transmission, ignition, other electrical) issues? 2. What is the percentage of those with continuing issues? 3. How does this compare with other vehicles on the road? I suspect the percentage with continuing serious issues is VERY HIGH in comparison to other new and relatively new vehicles on the road. To be fair, what is the percentage of Saturn Vue Green Line problems versus the Ford, Toyota, and Honda Hybrids versus the Vue? I suspect VERY HIGH percentages also. Conclusions: A small number of people with continuing problems, as part of a relatively small number of vehicles sold, is still a relatively high percentage compared to other vehicles. I used to be a Director of Quality Assurance for a Biotechnology Company. The word for the day is STATISTICS!!! Please note I am not anti-Saturn. I have noted the excellent performance (acceleration and handling) and mileage we are getting (still getting)with our Green Line. I have also noted on previous posts the excellent reliability and performance of our Saturn LW300 wagon. We will be trading in our wagon next year, at 6.5 years old. My wife wants a standard Saturn Vue. We get the GM employee discount through her father. |

I haven't even seen another 2007 hybrid except my own! And I live in Chicago! So it's not like I'm in the middle of nowhere.

Replying to: megfox (Nov 02, 2007 10:19 pm) I said production is ramping up. Does this mean there are currently 25 new GLs at your local dealer? No. It means that they are being produced and will be available for purchase soon. Please check the SaturnFans boards—-you will notice that there are users who have ordered their 2008 Aura GL and expect them within a few weeks. I also haven’t ever seen a McLaren F1 or a Hennessey Dodge Viper, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. GM makes no secret that the hybrid versions are in limited availability—-that was fully intentional, and based on the market for such vehicles. GM has not “pulled the plug” on the BAS hybrids whatsoever. Megfox, I don’t know why you think that the 2008 Saturn hybrid models will be drastically different from yours. That’s just not true. The VUE body style, of course, is different now that it’s based on the Opel Antara, but the hybrid powertrain is identical except for some minor tuning changes. It continues to use the 36V BAS system and 2.4 L LE5 Ecotec engine. The same powertrain will be in the Aura GL and the Chevy Malibu hybrid, too. You can (of course) choose to believe otherwise if you wish, but what I’ve said is accurate, no matter what your husband has read in “car magazines and online things”. I don’t need or care to defend myself from a few ultra-disgruntled owners, but I have nothing to do professionally with Saturn or GM and never have. I’m a Saturn owner, and only since 2005. I also own a Toyota and a Chevrolet, and I’m quite satisfied with all three. I do hope that eventually both of you can reach the same level of satisfaction that many others have with their GLs, but given your experience and the way you’ve handled it, that probably isn’t very likely. Good luck!

I don't think consumers will ever have the numbers in order to make an accurate assessment of initial and continuing reliability problems. 30-40 people posting on the website complaining is a pretty significant fraction. Even 7 people out of 7000 with continuing unresolved problems is pretty high in comparison to other vehicles. The small number of people with continuing problems have every right keep the heat on Saturn. Why shouldn't they, as disgruntled and dissatisfied customers, keep on posting and complaining when their issues are not being resolved? I have no doubt it is annoying, but is probably necessary. The problem on the 2008 Green Line issue is not you, or Google. The issue is Saturn Corporate and the fact that dealerships are being evasive about delivery of the 2008 only fuels the speculation. Saturn has alot of work to do restore confidence in its product, and rebuild its credibility. It is a basic trust issue. |

I'm glad that there are people who are very happy with their vehicles, as that gives me hope for mine, but do you not worry that it is only a matter of time before you experience issues? If not, what about how your vehicle was made differently makes you feel at ease? I have experienced the battery harness issue after only just 500 miles, and I my ignition does not stick, but has become sticky. My worry is that in time I may also experience the squeaks and rattles, the lunging forward of the vehicle, the poor breaking, etc., that other people have experienced.
