Good things about the Hybrid Vue!!! by chmsomm

1. Serious question. Has anyone seen a 2008 Hybrid Vue??? I have not. Has Saturn stopped production of the Hybrid Vue?

2. Serious question. How many Hybrid Auras were sold? Are they having similar problems?

3. Not so funny humor. The good thing about the Hybrid Vue: With Less than 7000 of them made, if I put it in the garage and don't drive it, I could have the last one. I just have to wait for everyone elses to go to the junk yard and scavenge them for parts. In a few yesrs it might be worth more than an Edsel.

That is correct - there have been less than 7000 made, as for being a collector's item (we can all dream). Sorry to read that a handful of owners are having issues but as it has been said before that is the risk you take with a 1st year auto.

After reading these posts I know that I have the best one on the roads. I just passed 28,000 in less than 11 months and have a documented lifetime 32.007mpg average. My Saturn Hybrid Vue has been everything advertised and more.

I figured I would post up in this thread to balance some of the horror stories. There are owners who are happy with their Hybrid Vues.

i think there's more than a "handful" of people having problems. I'm glad yours is great. I don't think your experience is the norm though. I have heard the 2008 hybrid vue is on hold. Obviously, Saturn is having major problems fixing the bugs in the 2007

I've had my 2007 Vue Hybrid exactly, to the day, five months. My car has been in the shop three (3) times for the sticking ignition issue! I was told the second (2) time in, that this is a problem on all the Vues! Every time I'm asked if my key chain is too heavy! Right! It isn't. Well, the Vue is going in again today, and I've requested a NEW ignition switch installed. We'll see if this helps, or not.

I'm disgusted with this entire situation, and especially how Saturn isn't fixing the initial issue. Get ignition switches made that WORK!! Eat the cost of all the ones sitting on the shelf, and do right by the customer by providing working parts NOW!!

"I have heard the 2008 hybrid vue is on hold."

Where have you heard that? Production is ramping up on the Aura and VUE GL models as well as the new Malibu Hybrid.

This is one of the reasons why several have mentioned that replacement hybrid batteries take a long time to receive.

Excuse me Tackepj,

I have stopped by dealerships in the Philly area, and at my in-laws place in upstate NY. I have asked if they were getting any, and the answer was no.

I have not seen a single 2008 Saturn hybrid. I have not seen one on the road, that is if they look like the new standard Vue.

I think we would need to see some proof of this supposed production. I do have concerns that Saturn is going to cut its losses and leave us with little or no service support on a failed product.

Until they magically appear, I think megfox's and my own suspicians may be legitimate.

HA! I think this person is a plant from Saturn! Nice try!

I want a vanity plate that says LEMON. Wouldn't that be great? My own public protest. Since we're stuck with it, it would be nice to warn others. maybe I should paint it lemon yellow.

and I heard about the 2008 hybrid from my husband who reads all those car magazines and online things. he knows everything before everyone. It's delayed. they're changing EVERYTHING. it won't be like ours at all. it's a totally different system...brand new...which means we are going to be stuck with exactly what you said...no support for a failed product. And if it hasn't failed, why reinvent the entire hybrid system on the 2008?

Hi Megfox,

I work with a couple of these "hyper-milers" who drive Toyota Prius'. They are sort of oblivious to things like safety issues, as opposed to "more important" carbon issues. I purchased the Vue Green Line because I am tall, and was seriously injured in a car accident a few years back, and need the additional protection of a larger vehicle. I also liked the idea of 6 cylinder performance with 4 cylinder gas mileage, which the Green Line has unequivocally delivered. But ultimately, safety to me means a vehicle that won't cease to operate in traffic, leading to another serious injury.

It is nice to know Hybridvue has one of the good vehicles (he is lucky). He is well meaning, but seems to be insulated from reality.

You are probably right about the other response. Most likely someone from Saturn.

The truth is, not every Vue GL owner has had the horrible luck that the people posting here have had. I am extremely disappointed at the way Saturn has handled the issue, but I would caution the against the temptation to assume the small sample size of problems identified here (as bad as they are) are representative of the entire Vue GL purchaser population. Most people seem to have had their problems resolved, or I suspect that more would have continued posting. My Vue didn't work right when I got it (see previous posts from jray14). The dealer was quick to get the problems with the battery harness fixed and I've had zero problems since July. I get about 29 mpg in mixed driving. I really do understand the frustration posted here, but we still have to be honest. And, honestly, I have had nothing but positives since mine got fixed in July. By the way, the new Vue GL can be seen at several sites. Just Google 2008 Vue Greenline.

Hi Jray14,

I would repeat my earlier question. How many of you, WITH YOUR OWN EYES, have actually seen a 2008 Saturn Vue Green Line on the road, or on a Dealers Lot?

On the issue of people with problems with the Green Line. I think it is a matter of percentages. There were less than 7000 sold.

1. What percentage had serious (harness, battery, transmission, ignition, other electrical) issues?

2. What is the percentage of those with continuing issues?

3. How does this compare with other vehicles on the road? I suspect the percentage with continuing serious issues is VERY HIGH in comparison to other new and relatively new vehicles on the road. To be fair, what is the percentage of Saturn Vue Green Line problems versus the Ford, Toyota, and Honda Hybrids versus the Vue? I suspect VERY HIGH percentages also.

Conclusions: A small number of people with continuing problems, as part of a relatively small number of vehicles sold, is still a relatively high percentage compared to other vehicles. I used to be a Director of Quality Assurance for a Biotechnology Company. The word for the day is STATISTICS!!!

Please note I am not anti-Saturn. I have noted the excellent performance (acceleration and handling) and mileage we are getting (still getting)with our Green Line. I have also noted on previous posts the excellent reliability and performance of our Saturn LW300 wagon.

We will be trading in our wagon next year, at 6.5 years old. My wife wants a standard Saturn Vue. We get the GM employee discount through her father.
