Like most of us you probably live in a part of the country where FEH are in 0 or very short supply. Previously we were told this was due to transmission availabilty or battery pack availabilty but now the truth is out. Ford intends to limit production to 25,000 units per year give or take for just one reason PROFITS. See both Ford Escape factorys are running at overtime and there is limited ability to increase production. This means that every Hybrid Ford produces means one less conventional Escape Ford can produce and Ford makes money on conventional Escapes as opposed to just breaking even if at all on on the Hybrid. This more then ever shows the need for Government to step and provide incentives to companies to produce more hybrids. Without profits, no company can survive which would mean no hybrids at all. http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05/16/why-is-ford-only-building-25-000-hybrid-- escapes-and-mariners-thi/

I loved by 2006 Freestyle. If that sucker had used a conventional rather than a CVT (which was discontinued), I may well have stuck with it. The FS was the best overall car I have ever owned, when one counts comfort, sheer utility, ride, and good MPG on a 4200 lb vehicle. However I'm REALLY enjoying my 2008 AWD FEH. I'm at about 3K miles and the MPG is starting to improve. My tanks are around 30 - 31 MPG, mostly in town mileage. The FS got 19 in this kind of driving. |

1) interior handle above the passenger door 2) full size spare 3) trailer hitch receiver (for my bike rack) Ford says none of the above are possible.

Replying to: joseph85750 (Jun 28, 2008 6:31 am) Number 2) is possible on the 2005 - 2007 vehicles (and I assume 2008), I have heard testimony from several folks who have installed a full size spare with no modifications. Number 3) I installed on my 2006 FEH for just that purpose. It is a Class III hitch and includes a 2" receiver to handle my "Yakima HoldUp" bike rack. (The rack install may affect the full size spare desire. My hitch closely follows the circumference of the spare.) |

The visor is too narrow! In the evenings I drive North, which means the sun comes in my window. I swing the visor to the side window, but it leaves 1/3 of the side window open to the sun - the portion that shines on me. I suggest a visor extension, or making the visor slide along the arm so that I can block the sun in the side windows. |

1. "Home Link" to program garage door openers 2. Back-up camera 3. Class I hitch (for bike rack) 4. Optional rear seat entertainment (DVD video, etc.)
