Maybe it's just some more color choices, or perhaps you have an idea for a radical change. Whatever it is, let us know what you would change about the Escape hybrid tomake it even better.

| Our 2007 FEH came with the "deluxe" package and "safety" package. There is no outside thermometer and no reply from Ford when I asked about one. I really use the outside air temperature as an indicator of freezing road conditions; especially helpful for black ice awareness. I spent $10 at Wal-Mart for a funky looking add-on that does not illuminate well. This truck is too nice not to have a factory thermometer! | |

I wish the wheel was larger, not only in diameter, but the thickness also; for the grip comfort. My other car is a Olds Cutlass and I just thought that wheel was small. I am over 55 (not old!)and that small wheel makes my hands hurt. I am going to look for one of those wheel covers maybe I can find a big padded chunky one.  The all I will need is some hot pink dice hanging from the mirror.  Despite that, I love this auto, love driving it. I have only had it a month and even if the mpg dont pay off in the long haul (years down the road),I wont regret getting this "sweet Escape". |

I expect the Outside temp to be available for 08 when electronic climate control arrives. Incidently, if you have an auto dimming mirror on your escape, you can upgrade to a mirror with temp display. the Steering Wheel changes for 08 also. I've spent a couple days corresponding with mitocorp.com ("the" Gentex-authorized retailer) and my Ford dealer's service manager. Nobody can definitely tell me why the official Ford Accessories catalog for the 2007 Ford Escape offers the Gentex K21 Auto-dimming Compass/Temp mirror as a Ford after-market add-on for plain-vanilla Escapes but puts an asterisk "Not for Hybrid" disclaimer in the catalog. My best guess is because the in-mirror compass will not be accurate in a Hybrid because of all of the random/variable magnetic fields created by the motors/generators in the front axle. Our Hybrid has the "premium" pkg, with the Hybrid display, GPS, and compass display. Obviously, the compass input comes from the GPS, so there's no problem with confused input finding magnetic North. Not so with the Gentex unit, which will need to find magnetic North. If I turn off the mirror's compass display and only display the outside temp, then who cares? I'll report back here once I get the Gentex K21 and install it.

| The biggest positive change they could make for me would be to quiet it down a whole bunch. At road speeds the noise is near deafening. Not the engine or drivetrain I think, but the road/wind/tire noise. My daughters' Focus has Pirellis and precious little sound deadening material and it is about as loud at the $33K Mariner Hybrid. Wind noise around mirrors, road noise thru floorboards and wheel wells. | |
| I have an '07 HEV Escape which I installed a Rear View Mirror with a temp and compass with no problems. The comapss and temp read-out are accurate. It is the Donnelly Model 36500, which also has map lights which are very nice. As it turns out Donnelly also made the OEM Rear view that came with the Escape. | |

Replying to: pf_flyer (Oct 26, 2006 5:13 am) I have a related question for the techs out there: If I replaced the drum brakes with disk brakes, would it have any negative effects on ABS, roll stability control, or possibly the regenerative braking? Thanks,

Replying to: alex35 (Feb 15, 2007 9:21 am)  Yes, changing the brake hardware could affect anti-lock performance. No - the regen system takes place inside the eCVT and is not affected by the brake hardware at the wheels.
