About two weeks ago, I journeyed about 400 miles to see the King Tut exhibit in Chicago. Configuration: Last row of seats folded flat for luggage and backpacks. Snacks and cooler on floor behind front row. With the gray and sometimes rainy weather on the trip down and back, it was nice to set the cruise control, and have the GPS and iPod within easy reach. The ergonomics of the Freestyle are very good. Going from the hotel to the Field Museum involved 15 miles on the Stevenson Highway, about half of which was stop and go, or so it seemed. The temperature gauge never budged, and the CVT made crawling along as smooth as silk. |

So far we've taken two big trips in the year we've owned our Freestyle. We live in Minnesota, and much of our family lives out west. Over memorial day we drove our four person family to Polson, MT, which is 1,300 miles each way. Over the fourth of July we drove to Steamboat Springs, CO an 1,100 mile each way trip. We also plan to drive back to Montana for Christmas utilizing the AWD over the mountains I'm certain. Our Freestyle with its good gas mileage, ample interior room, AWD, good driving dynamics, 3rd row seat to keep the kids separate (peace and tranquility), and DVD entertainment system is the perfect family road trip vehicle. We love it! |
