Canadian fuel consumption figures are: City/Ville 8.9 litres/100km or 32 MPG (Imperial Gallon) Highway/Route 5.9 litres/100km or 49 MPG (Imperial Gallon) The 2007 Toyota YARIS: City 6.9 litres/100km Highway 5.5 litres/100km If you average about 50/50 city and highway driving and compare the AVEO Sedan to the Yaris HB, you will only lose about 1 litre of fuel for every 100km you drive in the AVEO over the YARIS. I drive an average of 500km per week so I lose 5 litres of gas over a Yaris HB....about CDN$6.50 a week at CDN$1.20 per litre of fuel. With a 5speed transmission the times from 0-100km (0-60 mph) take about 10 seconds in the Aveo, same as the Yaris Sedan or HB.

Replying to: topgear1224 (Jul 07, 2007 8:54 pm) Well I don't know how they drive on BBC's TopGear, but a manual transmission will be faster than an automatic every time. You rev the engine close to red-line before shifting into the next gear and keep doing so until you reach 100km/hr. In the 2007 AVEO, it takes about 10 seconds with the 5 speed.

Driving my aveo hard I get 35 mpg. Driving under 60 mph I get 47 mpg. My 0-60 times are under 9.5 sec. and I turn the quarter approx. 78 mph. I paid $9000.00 for it, bought it for economy and I no people that drive civics that don't get the same mpg and paid $5000.00 more. I'm rough with autos and put alot of miles on and anyone that test automobiles should at least come up with a little closer numbers to what some of us owners get especially on fuel mileage. The aveos is a great car for what you pay and it takes alot of abuse. Hopefully others will check the car out and pass judgement themselves before trusting someone who seems favorable towards anything other than a gm vehicle.
