yeah, I dunno about that. It was just announced, they may not have updated mymazda yet. Since they are supposed to send out letters to owners of the affected cars, I'd just wait for that, or use the contact info below. There is only 1 reported case - in Canada - of it happening, so I don't know how many cars is actually affects.
Make: MAZDA Model: MAZDA6
Model Year: 2009
Manufacturer: MAZDA MOTOR CORP Mfr's Report Date: FEB 03, 2009
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V043000
NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS
Potential Number of Units Affected: 29000
MAZDA IS RECALLING 29,000 MY 2009 MAZDA6. THE OUTER DOOR HANDLES MAY STICK WHICH MAY PREVENT THE DOOR FROM LATCHING. THIS SITUATION MAY ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOOR UNLATCHED COULD LEAD TO AN UNBELTED OCCUPANT BEING EJECTED AND COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR INJURY.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE DOOR HANDLES AND IF NECESSARY REPAIR OR REPLACE THE HANDLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 13, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.
MAZDA RECALL NO. 5209A. CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

The recall affects the 2009 Mazda 6 with VIN Range of 1YV HP8**95 M00057 - M36656 (the * can be any letter or number) and Build Date from April 8, 2008 through November 7, 2008.
Some vehicles have already been repaired at the Ports.
My 6s GT is within that VIN Range so is one of those affected. I have not had the problem described though - yet.

gah, mines in that range. I haven't noticed anything either, but then, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Every thing SEEMS just fine.

Yeah. I got mine today.
I'll just have them look at it the next time I go for an oil service.
#1944 of 2226 Water Leak from Driver Door Mirror
Feb 17, 2009 (7:01 pm)
I took my car to the local car wash today. As I pulled out I noticed water dripping on the inside of the car at the top of the door just opposite the driver's side mirror. I have a little grill there. It might be a microphone or a small speaker. The water was dripping from directly under that little grill. It wasn't a bad drip, but I know it shouldn't be there. The car is a 2009 Mazda 6i Grand Touring. Anyone else have this problem?

I don't have that problem.
Have your dealer take a look at it before it ruins the speaker.
Before I would do that though, I would try to duplicate the leak. Sit inside the car and do it again. If it was a hand spray wash, have someone else do the wash. Watch for the leak. Make sure the window is all the way up too (but it doesn't appear that it could be from a slightly open window).

Yeah, I had mine waiting for me when I got home.
#1947 of 2226 Mazda recall notice
Feb 23, 2009 (11:48 am)
I have 4300 miles on a Comet Gray Mazda 6 (2009). Just received a recall notices and took care to dealer on 1/21/09. Found rear passenger door handle in need of replacement. It is color coded and will take maybe 3 days to arrrive. Told it is a very quick procedure. Love the car, feels very solid and 4cyl is power enough for me in Maryland. Ride is not as soft as would like but overall a fine high quality car and would be one again in a second.
