Is Hyundai supposed to provide a cable to connect your MP3/iPOD to the radio?

I never saw anything pre-sale that indicated it was part of the deal. But about 3 weeks after buying the car, a cable with a HONKING big isolator block showed up in the mail directly from Hyundai (not the dealer).

Maybe they have problems with the signal getting corrupted by noise.

Not sure. I already had a mini to mini audio cable, so I've been using that with not hitches. I can't hear a difference between the cables, neither.
#43 of 77 Having XM installed

Just purchased a 2007 Elantra SE that doesn't have XM pre-installed. I will be taking it back to the dealer to have it installed (on them! I clearly stated that I wanted it and the car on the lot in the color I wanted did not have XM already, though I was told it did.) Anyway, I'm kind of afraid to have it installed aftermarket because I don't understand what happens to the mast antenna. If it has to be removed (and I would imagine it does) what happens to that spot on the body of the car? I better not be left with a gaping hole!

Recently I started getting an error code - Er8 - when I try to switch to use my tape player. This wouldn't normally be an issue but I use a tape adapter to listen to my iPod. A few days ago a girl at my office backup into my car. Could that bump knock the tape deck into a security mode? Any help would be much appreciated.

This is what I wrote over in Edmunds Answers in case you missed it:
This is a real long shot, but it's free. Many people have had success in getting "stuck" CD players to work by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes. The theory is that you can reboot or reset the unit this way. May be worth a try for your tape deck as well.
You'll lose your radio security code doing this (if you have one), so make sure you know what the code is. You'll also lose any adaptive settings so your Elantra may feel like it's driving a bit differently for a few miles or so until it relearns how you drive.
