Rumor mill says the current 3.7 continues with the new 4.0 liter V6 as an option, and eventually another diesel; a fabric roof was spied; and the looks change rather dramatically. full story at http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/liberty-2008.html

I've seen some pics of the new liberty; looks good, little bit more room. I read it will have the 4.0 the Dodge Nitro has; hopefully the engine will be available as a "stand alone" option and you won't have to get anything else attached to it like navigation or satellite radio. Anyone have any more info on the '08?

Will the 2008 Liberty have a true automatic trans? Not the CVT that the Patriot has?
Will it still have the two speed axel? (hi-low)
Thanks, CK
Will wait for the Liberty if it has a true auto and not a CVT

The best I've come up with is that it will be using a second generation version of the Command-Trac:
-"Command-Trac II - part time 4WD, 2nd generation"

I've seen all of the spy shots and heard about the engines and basics. However, these things are supposed to go into production the July.....wouldn't Jeep have released a prototype by now?
