2005 Aveo sedan with 80,000 miles by jayman1967

I wanted a car with highest possible MPG at the lowest price and that is why I bought a Aveo. I drive it 170 miles day from my farm to the city where I work as a professional. The car now has 80,000 miles on it and climbing fast and I have had no issues what so ever and I get about 38-42 MPG which is all highway. I am hoping the car can go to 300,000 miles.

I have not met any other Aveo owners with the amount of miles I have on mine. The only thing I did to it was change the front tires at 70,000 miles and the back ones are still going and of course change the oil every 3,000 miles and I have always ran the higher octane gas since it runs better and I get higher MPG.
I believe the owners manual is off, it says to replace the spark plugs every 32,000 miles which I have not done yet and the car is running like a charm. I believe it should be 100,000 for plugs.

It depends on the kind of plugs that you have. Some need replacing sooner. If unsure, pull the plugs and look at them to determine replacement.

I saw an AveoRS LS at Dennison Chevy in Richmond when I took my AveoLS in for servicing. It was an Aveo LS sedan with chrome door handles and SS style "RS" on the driver's door.

Last I saw on the Chevy website, there was no listing for an RS. Could it be a dealer installed package?

That's what I originally said back in July, but CN7059 said he saw one in Richmond. Is there a Richmond Canada?

My husband bought me my Aveo as a surprise. I was driving a 97 GEO Metro and I loved it and really hated to give it up. It ran great. It took a while to warm up to my 2007 Aveo Hatchback but once I started driving it - it was great. It handles very smoothly and so far not one problem. Gas mileage is not like I thought (25mpg) - I think I should get more but did improve a little bit after I put 34psi in the tires. So far, I love it - no complaints!

Yes Richmond is part of Vancouver, so that makes sense now...the RS is Canada only. The Canadian market is much different from the USA car market. Here in Canada over 50% of cars sold are either subcompact or compact size (about the same as Europe), while in the USA the sales figure is around 13%, so GM was very wise in offering the RS package to Canadians who are more open to the idea of buying a fully loaded smaller car over a base version larger car.

I picked up a brand new chevy aveo for under 10K at my local dealer. I bought one with no A/C and stick shift with just an AM/FM radio. The dealer wouldnt put an A/C into it so I took it over to my local automotive shop and had a factory air put in. It blows like an ice storm when its 90+ degrees outside. I installed an AM/FM with mp3/cd/usb/SD player into it after ordering the wiring harness of ebay. Took me less then an hr. This Feb will be 2 years and 30,000 miles later and I couldn't be happier. I have taken it on a few camping trips with my daughters and have been able to stuff the roomie hatchback to the hilt with camping gear.

The only one problem I have is tires that are rated on it don't seem to handle longer then 12,000 miles. I am looking for a set of tires that will go the distance for a person that does 30 miles each way on a 70mph plus highway that is a little rough on the road construction in my area. That and a nice set of seat covers that work well with side airbags.
