I picked up a brand new chevy aveo for under 10K at my local dealer. I bought one with no A/C and stick shift with just an AM/FM radio. The dealer wouldnt put an A/C into it so I took it over to my local automotive shop and had a factory air put in. It blows like an ice storm when its 90+ degrees outside. I installed an AM/FM with mp3/cd/usb/SD player into it after ordering the wiring harness of ebay. Took me less then an hr. This Feb will be 2 years and 30,000 miles later and I couldn't be happier. I have taken it on a few camping trips with my daughters and have been able to stuff the roomie hatchback to the hilt with camping gear. The only one problem I have is tires that are rated on it don't seem to handle longer then 12,000 miles. I am looking for a set of tires that will go the distance for a person that does 30 miles each way on a 70mph plus highway that is a little rough on the road construction in my area. That and a nice set of seat covers that work well with side airbags.

I have a 2006 sedan LS, five speed, bought new so my wife and I could save for a house (traded in my black, fully-loaded 2001 Mustang GT... weep) Likes: Cargo space, nice stereo, very cheap, tight turning radius, easy to park amongst the behemoths in the city garage when I go to work Dislikes: Throttle body warp caused horrible bucking, surging, and "limp mode" in very, very dangerous driving locations; dealer experience for warranty work was awful (took 4 tries and 3 months, and they had to work on it a fifth time because they broke something on the gas tank - completely opposite end of the car from where the problem was); it's horribly unstable in wind; it's slow; nasty body lean on anything but the slowest turns; it makes all my passengers nauseous (they LOVED the loaner cars); mileage isn't bad, but it's not very good for the size of the car; my engine mounts are rotting To be frank, I didn't expect anything out of the car, given its price tag (12,000 before incentives), except that it would run, and it has failed to live up to expectations. The only car sold in the U.S. in the last 20 years that I can remember being so disappointing, overall, is the Yugo. Granted, it's far superior to a Yugo, but that's not the sort of yardstick you thump your chest about.... |
