I am a 40-something married woman in the Southern California area. After much research and test drives of similar vehicles, I finally made the decision to go with a 2006 Aveo LT Hatchback [fully loaded Spring Edition]. Although all of the vehicles that I have owned in the past have been imports [Toyota, Nissan, VW, Subaru and Honda], I figured that since our current 2001 Chevy Silverado has been such a good car, then why not give Chevy another chance. It has now been a month since purchase and I now have a good idea of my likes and dislikes, which hopefully will give someone looking a idea of what to expect if considering an Aveo.

Likes: Compact body size [great for parking], unique body style, tons of storage room w/rear seats folded down, good head/leg room, gas mileage, sunroof, great air conditioning, and good acceleration for passing and freeway driving -- just a cute little car!

Dislikes: ABS not standard, wierd automatic door locks [when you lock/unlock driver door all others lock/unlock as well] that are very noisy, rear seats are difficult to manuever when putting up or down -- really have to pull hard.

Aside from what I have listed, I think for the money the car offers quite a bit and although the gas mileage may not be as great as the imports, it is still fairly good. Since purchasing mine, I am beginning to see more and more in my area.

i had a 1991 Geo Storm. i loved this car then one day the drivers side door fell off. so i put it away till i was able to get some cash to fix everything wrong with the car. and sat it did. after about a year of sitting and me being broke as a joke. i wanted a newer car. i was looking at the Toyota Matrix and the Chevy Cavalier. but i saw this little 4 door 2004 Chevy Aveo sitting on the lot at the chevy dealers and it had nothing but a good radio and A/C so after talking the dealer into installing power windows i now am the proud owner of a 2004 4 door 16 valve Chevy Aveo I'm on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/b1rdbrain

I live in Orlando, FL. and purchased a 2006 Chevy Aveo Sedan with 43 miles on it and the basic 5 speed, A/C, rear defogger, and the premium stereo with a CD player. Got a great deal as I only paid $8400.00 compared to the $12000.00 sticker price due to it being a left over in the dealer's inventory in early 2007. I traded in a 2003 Cavalier (hunk of junk with 74000 miles) with the original idea of purchasing a 2007 Cobalt.

After seeing the unique styling of the 2006 Aveo and taking in consideration paying about HALF of what it would have cost me for the Cobalt - I took the bait. I have to say, I love this little car. The MPG is outstanding. I love the roomy interior...even though it does't look roomy from the outside. I even compared the Aveo side by side online to the Hyundia Accent and KIA Rio before I gave the final "OK" at the dealership. The Aveo was a much better value.

On the downside, and from what I've been reading on this site, I would have liked Chevy to install better tires and be rid of that annoying 'Passenger Side Airbag Disabled' when I am driving solo.

I'm 41 live in the midwest and inherited a 2004 Chevy Aveo from my father when he go too old to drive safely. I also purchased a 2007 Aveo in January of this year (2007) They are both sedans and both have been problem free. The 2004 has 63K and the only thing ever done was a bushing replacment the dealer took care of - that's it! The 2007 has 6K and no problems at all. Both cars average in the 28 to 34 MPG in city driving, well into the 30's on the highway. Wonder why your Aveo doesn't get good gas mileage? try keeping your foot out of it, drive it lightly, use the cruise control if you have it. It's not a sports car and thus not to be driven like one. It is reliable, basic transportation, not a hot rod or a sports car. I would recommend them to anyone.

My 2007 Aveo Sedan RS by richard1haines

I took delivery of a new 2007 Aveo Sedan RS Edition on May 01 2007 from Preston Chevrolet here in Vancouver BC Canada.

Do they sell the RS package in USA? It's an AVEO LT with the RS added to it. RS package includes 15" alloy and tires, rear spoiler, ipod nano, 6 speaker stereo upgrade with steering wheel stereo controls, RS special badges on the front door panels.

My car is a Misty Blue 5 speed. I drive about 90km per day. So far I've got almost 4,000km on the odo - all trouble free.

I looked at the Yaris, Fit, Versa and decided to go with AVEO.

No regrets - it has been a great car so far.

Hi, just found this forum. I live in Burnaby, BC and I have a 2007 Aveo LS Sedan. I bought it 4 months ago from Dennison Chevy in Richmond. I looked at the Yaris, and the Fit but I liked the Aveo the most, and I got a discount on it because I work for the Canadian National Railways (GM is a major supplier for CN, everything from fleet vehicles to locomotives). It's a great little car, handles as well as my '92 Tercel although it tends to roll a bit more than the tercel in a curve. I get the same gas mileage with the Aveo that I was getting in the Tercel, I get about 500k to a tank of gas.

Thought I'd throw in a picture of my Aveo. Sports Blue.

No RS package here in the states. Sometimes they have dealer added on packages that they make up and add special names. Only LS and LT here.

Hi KarenS:

Do you mind me asking how much you paid for your AVEO LS Sedan with the 15" alloy wheels?

The total price of my 2007 LT with RS package was $18,675 including destination charge and air con. tax, but not the PST and GST. I also received a discount on the $18,675 of $985 for a free slide/tilt sunroof. Oh and my car is a 5-speed, not an autostick.

With all taxes included and the discount subtracted my AVEO RS was $21,297.76. I shopped all over the place. I used to have a 2001 Toyota Echo Coupe that I traded in for the Aveo. I compared the new 2007 Yaris Sedan by Toyota and added similar options to the Yaris Sedan and the total for the Yaris is an incredibly high $25,493.97 and a sunroof isn't even offered on the Yaris. So I went with the AVEO.

2005 Aveo sedan with 80,000 miles by jayman1967

I wanted a car with highest possible MPG at the lowest price and that is why I bought a Aveo. I drive it 170 miles day from my farm to the city where I work as a professional. The car now has 80,000 miles on it and climbing fast and I have had no issues what so ever and I get about 38-42 MPG which is all highway. I am hoping the car can go to 300,000 miles.

I have not met any other Aveo owners with the amount of miles I have on mine. The only thing I did to it was change the front tires at 70,000 miles and the back ones are still going and of course change the oil every 3,000 miles and I have always ran the higher octane gas since it runs better and I get higher MPG.
I believe the owners manual is off, it says to replace the spark plugs every 32,000 miles which I have not done yet and the car is running like a charm. I believe it should be 100,000 for plugs.

It depends on the kind of plugs that you have. Some need replacing sooner. If unsure, pull the plugs and look at them to determine replacement.
