#661 of 1069 1993 jeep gc idle issues only when warm

I hope somone has done something similar already. My jeep has idle issuse after it is warm, at stop lights or in traffic there is a misfire. also if i leave it for a day or so it is hard to start can crank on and off for up to 20 min before it starts not sure if the two are related. I have changed plugs wires, cap all that, checked for vac leaks, cleaned the throttle body, will be checking fuel pressure in the morning. also i might point out that if my throttle is peged to the floor once i hit about 4k rpm i start to miss but if i back off the throttle it goes right away. does anyone have any ideas thx my main concern is the rough idle but i would love to fix it all in one go.

To anyone that cares I thought I would post my problem fixed after much thought to fuel related issues I decided to ask jeep what they thought after explaining my issues I was told that I should check the coil so at their advice I went to the autoparts store and changed the coil. all fixed it starts up fine and it also does not miss at stop lights or in traffic, just a FYI to thoese having the same issue I did put a ohm meter on my coil and matched it with the brand new one. Apparently the coil can have issues only when warm which would make sense because of the restance. well just a thought for any of you folks reading with the same issue,or close, ya sure it could still be a fuel thing, but you may want to check your 30 dollar coil before you go spend that big cash.

I just got a 2006 jeep grand cherokee about 3 weeks ago. I got a full tune up the weekend after I got it. Well, about 4 days ago it started idling real bad when I had it in park and the interior lights flickered for a second. then everything went back to normal. Well i noticed the same strange idling today when I was in park and when I restarted the damn thing. the indicator is showing perform service, but that has already been done. I also brought it to auto zone and both machines show nothing. Any ideas?
#664 of 1069 Trans Over Temp
by levy76

I have a 2007 Laredo that has 30,000 on it. A few times a month I try to start my Jeep and it won't start. This usually happens right after I had been driving it for a little. I get a very brief "Transmission over temp" or "Trans over temp" which lasts a second. It won't turn over, no crank, lights are on and so jumping the battery doesn't help either. That being said, I can wait 15 minutes or so and then starts right up. Dealership changed the starter a few months ago and I had no problem for a couple of months after that. Problem came back though...
In addition, pretty certain this is related, but my wife says that the car will just shut itself off when driving at very low speeds and up a hill...
Does anyone know why this is happening? I took it to the Dealer and they can't reproduce the problem.
I've been researching a bunch of forums and this problem seems to happen to otehr people but there is never a definitive answer to how a dealer fixed the issue once and for all.
Any help with tis would be appreciated.
Thanks.
#665 of 1069 97 JGC STALL AND STUTTER ISSUES. (Jeepster98)

">I have JGC 97 with Strait 6 Cyl, Auto Trans,4x4 (130,000 odom) - After about 5 minutes of driving it stutters and wants to stall between 45 to 60 miles an hour and seems to do it when in the overdrive gear on open road( at cruising speeds). Happens mostly while going up inclines. The problem doesn't seem to exist while in lower gears but it did happen before in lower gears until I added Sea-Foam. Now seems to happen only in overdrive...There is also sometimes what appears to be occasional very mild slippage while gear changeing 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th but I don't always notice it. There are no code lights flashing on dash..... I am thinking about changing fuel filter which is in the tank and I will also replace the fuel pump - while the tank is dropped...Any suggestions? If someone has their owners manual around, could you post the wording from it on how Jeep says to use the Selec-Trac system for the 2000 JGC?
Thanks!

About a year ago I thought I didn't turn the key far enough to make contact and start the car. The problem got worse as the season got colder. Insert the key and everything turns on(lights, bells, radio, seats) but the key needs to be turned 2, 5, up to 20 times before the contact is made and the engine starts. After that, NO problem until the next morning! After the car starts, it will restart however many times is necessary. As weather warms up the ignition switch requires fewer turns: colder more turns. The car eventually starts up but this is baffeling my mechanic and me (now my wife is nagging about this too). My mechanic also has another JGC doing the same for another client who took his car to the Jeep "stealer" first and charged over a grand in parts & labor. BTY switch, coil, starter motor & all down the line check-out good. Any/All advice is appreciated (it will keep my wife off my back!).
