Hello all

I just bought a new 2006 Lucerne CX.

Was in the market for a sedan with a wide rear seat to accommodate 3 car seats, kid #3 on the way Aug 1.

Didn't think I had a chance of affording a new Buick until GM upped their rebate on 2006 Lucernes to $4,000 and I found a local dealer with about 7 2006s on his lot.

This is my 4th Buick:

1978 Century
1986 Skyhawk
1992 Century

Kept the 78 about 15 years, kept the Skyhawk for 18 years and now willd need to sell the 1992 Century.

Our other car is 2004 Aztek which is a perfect car for taking the kids to the beach and park here in Honolulu.

Aloha

My Lucerne is garbage. From day one, it has been back to the dealer so many times it probably has its own dedicated service bay. After 30 years of owning Buicks, this is my last. My next vehicle will be a Lexus, if they will take this piece of junk as a trade.

I bought an ’07 CXL in November. It had 11,000 miles on it. It now has 32,000. Had a terrible time with the drivers seat. Dealer restuffed it TWICE. It was so uncomfortable I met with the Buick field rep hoping to have a completely assembled seat installed. They do not make them.
A friend gave me a Homedics cushion which has made all the difference. I traded in a never-quit Camry for the Buick. Technically, a step way down. For comfort, a step up. I had a Pontiac Bonneville before the Camry it was the most comfortable car I have ever owned.
I like the Buick. During the seat crisis I looked at other land yachts, but none felt as well built, including Cadillac. I giant Lexus or Mercedes is way out of my budget.
Gas at $4 is freaking me out at 23 mpg.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. No one needs that.
I traded a Camry for my Lucerne. Camry far superior, but no where nr as comfortable. The Lucerne had 6” of water in the trunk form some factory oversight with deals and a rear bumper mount.
The rotors had to be turned before 30,000 mi. a warrantee job.
It has a 50,000 mi warrantee. I figure to dump it at 45,000
I had a terrible time adjusting to the seat. Terrible seat pain and back pain. Dealer restuffed the seat twice. A homedics brand cushion helped a great deal. I’ve undoubtedly adjusted as I no longer use the cushion.
I had a 98 Bonneville that was fantastic. A piece of crap mechanically, but a tremendous ride. I log 30-35,000 mi/yr.
If I could afford a huge lexus I would buy one. Will probably go to an Avalon.
Good luck

I have a 2007 Lucerne with 30000 miles. I have a lower back problem and the seats in the Lucerne made my back ache. I could only drive for a short while before I had to get out of the car and stretch. I told my chiropractor what was happening and he walked me out to my car. He saw the problem immediately when I sat in the car. It seemed that no matter how I position the seats the same problem persisted with my lower back. My knees were higher than my hips which put all the pressure on the discs in my lower back. My weight was not evenly distributed. I couldn't straighten my legs out all the way due to my 6'4" frame, and I couldn't raise the seat all the way because my head hit the roof. I put a pillow on the seat and back of the seat as he suggested so that my hips would not sink down into the seat and at least my hips and knees were the same height and that seemed to solve the problem. Since then I have tried not only Buicks but Cadillacs and the seat problem was the same. By the way I do otherwise love the car. I just can't drive anywhere without my pillow.

i am 5' 7". my bottom was in agony. my lower back was so bad i could barely walk. i would like to think it was NOT psychosomatic as i have since acclimated to the car, but it was an absolute nightmare. my girlfriend gave me a Homemedics auto seat cushion which saved my bacon. As i said, the most comfortable car i ever owned was a Bonneville. A piece of junk, but comfortable.
my warantee is up at 50,000 mi. already i am looking at Avalons.
no doubt you have considered all sorts of alternatives. An SUV, perhaps?
Good luck

I guess the seats in a car are quite subjective. When i had my Avalon, i also had to buy Homedic seats for me and my wife. Could not even think of driving to Fla without my Homedic helpers. Bought the Lucerne and the Homedic seats are in the garage somewhere, certainly not needed. Best of luck with the seat issues all.
