I just re-read my post and it didn't make sense. I meant how many weeks did you have to wait?

I ordered it on July 15th and got it on September 14th. I believe it rolled into the dealer on September 12. I was originally quoted 6-8 weeks. Remember that my hold up was that I wanted ABS and no convenience package. The dealer said he had to cash in a favor (AKA take something else in return, switch production schedules, etc.) to get mine in time.
If I had wanted Blue Onyx or White Powder with CVT, mats, splash guards, and convenience package (no ABS) I could have bought one on July 15 or almost any date thereafter from some dealer around Mass. They all seem to have those in stock. I have heard conflicting stories about the ABS availability - one is that ABS is standard on the SL in Canada so most of the empahsis on producing ABS equipped vehicles is for that market. Who knows???

sngwrtr,
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I was also originally quoted 6-8 weeks when I ordered mine, and I pretty much ordered everything on mine (including the audio package and sunroof package that no one else has seen). But your delivery time eases my worries a bit.

I ordered a Versa SL with ABS brakes from my local dealer in early August. I was told ETA would be 6-8 weeks. Last week, the dealer called and said Nissan was only producing the base Versa model right now and didn't know when they would start producing the SL and didn't know if they could get ABS brakes (even tho it is an option). I've talked to other dealers in the area who say delivery info on this vehicle is unavailable. Is anyone else hearing this? I live in Minnesota.

Which dealer are you speaking with in Minnesota? I spoke with one in Inver Grove Heights, and they said they were going to receive an SL with ABS shortly, and that they could order one with a lead time of 8 weeks.

I think you're getting the runaround. Others have been able to order ABS and the SL model has been produced since day 1 there are thousands delivered already. Check with another dealer. ABS might be hard to get, the parts are short and most of them have been ear-marked for Canada where ABS is standard. Another problem NISSAN is having is trying to start up the Sentra line which has a lot of common parts like the ABS system and CVT.

I wish that were true. I've called two other dealers who have no answers and also the Nissan hotline. Same answer there - no Versa SLs right now. The dealer in my city claims they don't even know what they are getting in until it arrives on the lot.

I've been working with Clements Auto in Mankato and have also spoken with a dealer in Rochester and Mason City. Do you have a contact person's name and phone number for the dealer in Inver Grove?

I live in Illinois and had to order my Versa back in mid August because the dealer made a mistake and thought he could get what I wanted in a couple of days from another dealer. I ordered an Onyx Blue SL with ABS, splash guards and mats and was told 6-8 weeks, but we're at 8 weeks now and his last e-mail didn't mention an arrival date. All I've been seeing on lots are S models, so I think the comment about reduced SL production may be right. I'm still patiently waiting for the e-mail that informs me that my Versa is.
