Through phone calls and computer searches, he was able to find out that Nissan can indeed cancel orders if the factory is not set up to handle them and can even cancel orders with customers names on them. (This has been particularly true with the Versa.) If that happens, he said the dealer will get a credit for the cancelled car, and the customer should be notified within a couple of weeks to a month of the order. In my case, I did not get notification from the dealer until last week after I called them asking for an ETA update. (My order was put in mid-, late-August) All I have to say is that if you want a Versa with ABS, I agree that you'll have to wait until next year. And even if you place a specific order, Nissan may indeed cancel it, so stay on top of your dealer about it. Me, I'll be looking at other makes after this Nissan experience.

There are pluses and minuses for both vehicles. But one thing we absolutely refuse to compromise is the safety benefits of ABS, and on that one, the Versa had no chance. Seriously, if the Versa had come with ABS to begin with, or had the ABS package readily available, we would have bought one in August. Reselling a Fit - a high return on this one (at least for a while). I have already seen some used Fits selling above the new MSRP pricing. It's turning into something that happened with the Miata when it first came out. It's so funny to hear that your thinking is much like ours. My wife and I also said to each other: "We can always sell the Fit for a lot of money and buy a Versa if the Fit does not work out."
