#50 of 63 4WD idiot light trouble
by my66vette

I see a few forums that resemble my problem but not exactly. So here I go and I hope someone can shed some light on the repair needed. I bought a new 2006 Chevy Colorado in 06. Other than a few things needing repair (front wheel bearings and ABS sensors) it’s been an “Okay” truck. I have 92,000 miles on it now. At the end of last winter my 4WD stopped working. The push buttons would just flash in any position and it would stay in 2WD. All summer it was flashing in the 2WD position. I was moving in 2WD so I didn’t question things.
Now that winter is approaching I thought I’d look into fixing the 4WD. My parts guy said it’s probably the Actuator. So I bought it and installed. It seem that it is now going into 2WD, 4IH and 4Low. All seems good except the idiot lights. They stop flashing when in 4Hi & 4Low but keeps flashing in 2WD. Everything seems to be working. Back in the day the fix to this would have been “pull the bulb” Any thoughts out there?

Have you spoke with a dealer? What kind of concerns are you experiencing? Can you please email me a VIN and description of your experience? I look forward to your response.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this problem. My tranny seems to "slip" or "hunt for a gear". I drive the same route to and from work everyday (50-60 mph). What is really odd is that it seems to happen in the same places everyday and they are all on right-bearing turns?? It won't do it in a left-bearing turn. Tach needle flutters up and down (usually 100 - 600 rpm flux). Every once in a while on country roads, when I make a sharp right hand turn and try to accelerate, the truck rpm will spike, truck hesitates to move, drop to a lower gear (or that's at least what it feels like to me) and take off like a rocket (usually chirps the tires when it does this).
I 've had this problem since the valve spring/head recall work was done (10000 mi). I have had the dealer look at it with no luck. I had the dealer install a VDR (vehicle data recorder) to try to find the issue. No luck. They even sent a guy with me to ride to experience the problem firsthand (turns out the guy they sent with me was the guy that washes cars at the dealership). Needless to say, that got zero results.
If anyone can shed some insight on this problem, please do. The dealer has been zero help to me. I've been a lifelong GM guy. I think it might be time to reconsider.

My 2008 transmission started making a noise and as you got up to about 50 it wouldnt make the noise. Got home and when i backedin the driveway it made a god awful noise. Called dealer talked to a lady and asked about warranty. She said warranty expired at 60thousand. Had truck towed to shop. Found out need new transmisssion. Luckly for me the dealer called me to ask how my recent trip to shop was. I explained to them the problem with tranny. Luckly it was still under warranty. Had to rent a car til they got it diagnosed. A day later they call and offer me a rental. So i had to pay for one day rental. Always been a chev man but my wife has a ford and not one problem. Every chevy ive had always had something wrong with it.
