Well that does make me feel better about it...at least I know they didn't lie to me!
Thank you!

marsj,
I apologize for your experience. I am happy to hear you are back on the road. Feel free to see another dealer for a second opinion anytime you are unsure. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me.

#58 of 65 ABS warning light in cool morning

I have 2005 Maxx LS, now at 80,000 miles, this happened in last winter, now it happens again. During the morning cool start, the ABS light comes on, and stays on. But if I shut off the engine after 20 seconds, and restart the engine, the ABS warning light clears. This does not happens in the summer time, only happens when air temperature is under or around 55F.
The car has brake fluid flushed at 45,000 miles. Any idea what this is? or anyone had the same problem before?

Thanks for the post, ktc,
I understand why this is concerning. I looked into your Owner's Manual, and on p. 3-37, it states that the light may come on and stay on upon ignition of the engine. It recommends, as you have been doing, to shut the engine down and restart to reset the system. At that point, if the ABS warning light comes back on, then the vehicle needs service.
As to the cause of this (the varying temperature that seems to set yours off), there isn't a further explanation that I have available.
I hope this is helpful!

Thank you Sarah,
I was thinking this more likely electronic related, I was thinking maybe the ABS relay is not as solid as before (if there is a relay for the ABS system), Generally a relay is not that expensive, I might buy one and just try it, maybe cheaper than bring it to dealer to diagnosis (at least $50 to start with). Do you recommand I try a new relay??
Thanks for the help.

Good morning!
As a customer service representative, I can't necessarily make any technical recommendations like this. However, if you do pursue this I would be very interested to learn how it goes for you so I can be of further service to other owners.
Enjoy your day,
Sarah

Hi Sarah:
I went to a Chevy dealer last Saturday, the part department could not find the ABS relay in the part list (maybe there isn't one in the 2005 Mailibu Maxx). And the Service department said it cost $99.50 just to look at it even the car is still under the 7 years extended dealer warrenty, so I decided to let it go as long as I can restart and clear the ABS warning light

my question is why is the dealer charging you if in fact the car is under an extended warranty?...Is it a GM warranty or a third party one?

Need to find another dealer. Mine has never charged a diagnosis fee when issue is covered under extended warranty.
