On that warm day with it's LEAST cool setting, we still found it TOO cold, (perhaps a 12" diameter circle in the center of the seat's surface) while the sides of your bottom still perspire on leather! (The backrest is heated only, NOT cooled) Without question we would HAVE BOUGHT the DTS that day had it offered cloth seating as does the Lucerne CX. Cloth is neutral in temp. It does not suck the heat away from you in the Winter, nor feel hot and make you sweat in the Summer. Stats probably show Leather is "prefered,or more popular" than cloth (perhaps a clever marketing move?)Leather comes at a hefty price. They COST MORE money than cloth, and now they "do us a favor" and charge us an ADDITIONAL $ 1000 for an option to heat and cool this overated material. Leather may be great at home and obviously is THE choice of many, many car enthusiasts. Because a car will be found in extremes of 0 to 100 degrees,we have owned and ENJOYED ONLY cloth seating, in all of our cars. We have made OUR choice and ordered a Lucerne CX Loaded. Good Luck in making YOUR choice. Attension GM !!! Offer MORE PLUSH, CLOTH seating in your FULL-SIZE Flagship Model even if at an optional cost, and seats AS WIDE and cofortable as those found in your MID-SIZE Lacrosse! |

When in darkness the dashboard lighting is perfect. For example if I pull the car into the garage, the headlights turn on automatically, and the dashboard is well lit. If I then pull the car into the sunlight, the headlights turn off, and the lights on the small odometer section of the dash get brighter as expected so they can be seen in the brighter ambient light. The problem is that all the lighting on the dials ( for example the speedometer dial ) turn OFF COMPLETELY instead of getting brighter. Due to my age I can not see the dials or can barely see them. It seems very inconsistent that some of the dash would get brighter while the rest would turn off completely. I am left wondering if this is by design or there is a problem or adjustment to be made. This may sound minor but I really cannot see any of the dials in outdoor sunlight situations. Thanks ahead of time for any insight you can give me |

Replying to: oldmanuser (Sep 16, 2006 1:27 pm) Some two weeks after I bought my Lucerne, the courtesy lights on the passenger side sun visor and the both lights on the ceiling console went out. I brought it in for service and the fuse was replaced. The fuse burned out within two days and I brought it back again. The fuse was replaced again and so far the fuse has held. Recently I noticed that the green lights on both the radio and speedometer began to dim. Sometimes they would be initially dim when the car was started. I would turn off the engine, open the door so the radio would shut off and restart the vehicle. Usually, that worked and the lights would come on at full brightness. Other times they would remain dim and then halfway during my morning 17-mile commute would suddenly come on at full brightness. Still other times during my commute, the lights would dim on the way. If that happened, after arriving at work, I would turn off the engine, open the door, close the door and restart the engine and the lights would usually come back on at full brightness. Usually. The dimming issue did not resurface then for a week or so, and then began again. On September 12th the dimming of those lights began again during my morning commute. Also during that commute, the warning light for “Check Airbag” came on and stayed on, both the written warning in the message area and red red symbol. When I arrived at work, I shut the engine off and restarted it and the warning light stayed on. That evening as I began my commute home from downtown the warning light reappeared and didn’t go off until I was nearly home. It has not reappeared. On Wednesday morning, and again on Thursday morning, the numerals on the speedometer went completely black after I had driven some ten miles. Oddly, the remaining lights on that dial – odometer, etc., remained at full brightness. The numerals then lighted back up on restart. Also, I noticed the green light for direction of travel, inset into the rearview mirror, has gone black and has not reappeared. These electrical issues are extremely irritating and especially with the numerals on the speedometer going out, somewhat dangerous. Hopefully, I'll get the car back tomorrow and it will have been fixed. Thing is, it sounds like its not an isolated problem and there may be issues that will result in a recall...

Replying to: rake2 (Sep 17, 2006 6:45 pm) However the key thing here is that the light on the dial around the speedometer actually turns completely off instead of getting brighter as you woudl expect. If you could tell me if you see the same behavior it would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to figure out if its a flaw in design or a flaw in my particular vehicle. The dealerships have acted like they don't understand what I am talking about. Of course partly because I'm old
