My driver's door handle came off yesterday, ('06 Lucerene) did you find out anything from GM? My dealer said they are aware of the problems, and will fix it on my dime.
Thanks

Yes....I was lucky , it was still under warranty. Buick didn't act suprised when I took it in. They need to take responsibility for the faulty knob. Hope the other one doesn't fall off as it is no longer under warranty. I love my Buick but the older models didn't have any problems with door knobs so why change things if they aren't broke !

I've read this several times now in former posts here, all drivers door handles. That's more than a coincidence. I have an 06, I hope it doesn't happen to me.

Yes....Buick needs to make this a recall for sure. What determines how recalls are mandated ? This just doesn't seem right that we have to pay for their mistakes.

I took mine to the dealer, warranty just expired, will cost +- $180 for them to fix. I ordered mine from GM Parts house for $ 35 plus shipping. It took about 10 days to get it and about 10 min. for me to install.
IMNSHO GM should recall these and or pay for the replacements.
At least my wife is happy.

Could not agree more...especially since mine is now wearing it's Third of these plastic POS Door Handles. #1 replaced by Dealer, only after engaging zone office, and second just over 1 year later. both failed in exact same location, where cheap plastic broke around the threaded inserts. Owned many automobiles in my lifetime that all fell apart in different areas, but never had one with door handles that continually broke, in the same way, same place etc. Apparently they are more than satisfied with the quality of parts this particular supplier provides...."Exit Soapbox"....Good Luck with yours...Keep me posted when the new one fails!

Wow, it's been a long time since I checked back in. It also has been a long time since I replaced that handle. (Ha) If I remember, I took the door panel off and then was able to access the handle from inside. With my 1/4" drive socket set, I loosened the mounting hardware and installed in reverse order. Actually, it was not very difficult at all. Just make sure you look at everything so you know where it all goes back together. If I remember, the important thing is to check your window as you can get the window guides too tight or too loose. Just check before you button up the door panel.
Good Luck.
