If you would carefully read the last couple of pages where this conversation started, you will notice this was not a question about domestic content, but a question of is it an American company or a foreign company regardless of where the wires and tires came from.

I would definatley want at leaset 17" wheels on this car. The brakes are excellent. 4 speed tranny seems "just right" in this car. Can't imagine it would be much differnet with the V8. My wife has driven it a couple times to work now as well. She is onboard. Wants to get heated/air leather seats which works for me because I have decided I want the V8 so we are looking like a CXL V8 when the time comes. Had my long legged daughter sit in the back seat, her comment was "wow this is the first car I can sit like a normal person in"

Looks like I have it for one more week. Fuel economy on the V6 per the trip computer states 21.6, and we are both driving the hell out of this thing. Plan to go see my dealer tomorrow if he has a CXL V8 on the lot to compare motor wheel combo.

Volvo markets their cars as the safest in the world but I have read crash tests that showed many other cars far as well.

Volvo - overhyped and overpriced.

Hi Folks, 5000 miles ago i traded a 2001 Toyota Avalon for a 2007 Lucerne. Toyota was the base model with 35,000 miles and the Lucerne was bought used with 22,000 miles. I have the v6 Lucerne with leather. As many others have said the seats in the Avalon were terrible, driving to Fla was torture till i bought one of those heated vibrating seats. The ride far better in the Buick, the handling better in the Toyo. Around town mileage is slightly better in the Toyota and the Buick better on the highway. The leg room is far better for me in the Buick, i was so sick of that foot rest on the inside left wheel housing of the Toyo. The Toyota was a decent car, but vastly overated. Had it in twice for air conditioner work which was not cheap and other repair issues. Maintained the Toyo per the book, which again is expensive. For my money, noting the difference in model years, upkeep and comfort the Lucerne is far superior to the Avalon. As others have said, reliability is not an issue with Buicks and Consumer Reprts agree's.

By the way, when Volvo was caught during that now infamous staged car demonstration they were using 2x4's not plywood to strengthen their Volvo and the roof pillars

Power, power, power, it should be mileage, mileage, mileage, I don't give a rip how fast I can get from 0 to 60, it's how much gas it takes at each fill up for miles driven!
