| I do have alot of issues with my 2007 Doge Caliber but the most irritating issue is the upholstery and how it stains so bad! It has always been a problem since the very first day I bought it. | |

| Isn't that a lot for only 54K miles? 2007. I was soooo stupid to trade in my Honda CRV (93K miles) for this car, only because I didn't want to fix a $1,200.00 catalytic converter. WORST MOVE EVER! I like this car, but I have a feeling it's going to boil me in the next year or so. I drive 25K per year and barely make 30K per year in income. I can NOT afford these repairs. WOOF. | |

I bought my 07 1.8L sxt back in may of 06 and have had problems ever since. It started the the engine stalling at lights while idling that was caused by the a/c compressor turning on and off got that fixed after the 3rd time taking it to the dealer and them telling me there was nothing wrong, 3 years later to this day on top of that I have taken it in numerous times cause the A/c DOES NOT blow cold, I can be driving not stop for an hour and I'll still be sweating, but every time I take it in they say "It works fine" and "New cars a/c doesn't blow as cold as older cars." Bullsh**, I even put in a claim with lemon law and BBB that got me no where even with all the proper paperwork. I still had issues with the car not running correctly and stalling, they tried to sell me a fuel system flush, new spark plugs and something else and this was with 20K miles on it, I was with the service manager and asked him do I look stupid to you? Spark plugs at 20K miles, maybe at 75K but not 20. They clutch is another problem, it makes a clicking noise when engaging, been doing it since 20K mi and with almost 52K on it now no one still seems to think there is anything wrong with it. The "alarm" that the dealer installed has a mind of it's own, it has already killed one horn and the one I just put in it I had to un plug cause it goes off all by itself. Dealer won't touch it unless I'm paying. This past year when I go to start it in the morning, all power and everything will work and it will crank and crank and crank like it's getting no fuel if I sit there for like 10 min then it will start right up, yet again I'm told there is nothing wrong with the car. I'm so upside down in it I can't even trade it in without at least 8-10K down and the warranty was up at 36K miles with hourly shop rates and almost 100/hr i'm screwed. This thing is a major lemon and dodge and lemon law don't care. I even told the dealer you need to buy this thing back and give me a new one cause this is bull. I'm one of those sucks who bought it when it first hit the lot with all the problems and paid 21K out the door after financing and still have 3 more years of paying on it when people are buying them brand new for 12K. and mine is right now maybe worth 8K if I'm lucky. in another 3 years it will be worth what 1K? These are the neon in a costume.

Replying to: irritatedowner (Jul 18, 2009 9:34 pm) having a STUPID dealership. Your A/C problem could be as simple as an airlock in the refrigerant path, low refrigerant due to a system leak or as complicated as a worn/damaged compressor. There was a Technical Service Bulletin or TSB #24-006-07 issued covering the fault. The rear window washer leaking after usage was a complaint on the '07s(mine did it) and was cured with the placement of "check valve" in the supply line '08 and up had it from factory. Yes the black plastic turns whitesh grey in all sunny climates and with you being in the SW US it probabbly happened faster and is more distinct. Most owners including myself use products such as "Mothers Back to Black" or "Forever Black".I use Mothers and apply it 2x a year with the results being that mine looks factory new. The top glove box cover again was a problem noted on '07s and generally was replaced with little hassle under warranty in that time period. If you would like to see all the TSBs for ALL Caliber models I would suggest you follow this link: http://www.caliberforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38 Then find a dealer with a brain and ethics. |

2007 dodge caliber sounds like a diesel but isn't. Changed idler pulley's and tensioner and didn't solve the problem. Since I bought the first caliber out, it didn't come with the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty. What a crock. that offer came out right after I bought the car. I have heard on the internet that I am not the only one with this problem! We have heard from several people that it is the altenator????? who knows. The car is in the shop again maybe they will find out what the noise is??? I feel sorry for people that have a caliber it is a POS.
