stalling by spathe1

I have a 2008 caliber RT that also stalls. So far it stalls only at idle, like at a stop sign, or waiting to turn at an interesction. The dealer says also they can't duplicate it. But it happens so inconsistently. Doesn't the car have an internal computer that records these things so the dealer can review them? The dealer is able to tell customers there's nothing wrong & be done with it? It doesn't make sense.

I owned a 2007 caliber & it stalled 10 days after driving it off the lot. I actually had the "electronic throttle control" warning on my dash. When i took it back to dealership they said it needed a "software update". I drove it 4 a year after that & never had the problem again.

Ok I am new at this whole Caliber is a POS thing, I have had this problem since Nov 08 and my car is actually in the shop as we speak..again!!! Last time it was in the shop (just last week we got it out) it was in there for 13 days and they said they weren't sure if they had it fixed or not, they put in a new computer and basically said "here you go, good luck" Thankfully we bought extended warranty but my car is not fixed after 5 times being in the shop for the same reason. They are saying they can't get it to "act up" for them, I think they are full of BS. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do now, I don't think its fair to rerun my credit to get another car, I am seriously looking into Lemon Laws. Has anyone tried already? If so, any results?

sounds like ur lemon is having the same issues as mine was. I had several "no starts" but it would go with a boost. They eventually had 2 replace my battery & thanx 2 an awesum mechanic at the dealership who took my car home 4 a night, he found the problem !!! it was the heater blower module. even when the car was shut off it was still drawing power; thus draining my battery every time i parked it.

I have mentioned that we needed to sue this company before; a class action suit. I had my car for eight months and all I had were headaches. If anyone wants to sign up to sue Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep... we need to get together and do this. I've lost so much money it's not funny. I traded in my 2008 Caliber for a 2008 Honda CRV 2wd/ the basic. My note is like i purchased a CRV/4wd/navi/leather seats and all the bells and whistles. That Caliber was worth nothing for a trade in. But right now I'm happy just not to be in a Caliber. I'm down for making sure these car companies stop taking advantage of innocent people; selling us carp for a car.

Ladies and Gents, I had no idea that there were so many of you out there with the same problems that I have with my Caliber. I've been reading for about an hour now, and I can relate to every problem in every forum. From the stalling, to LED lights just coming on, to the smoking when coming out the car wash. And after all the heart-head ache, Dodge has the nerve to want us to bail them out? Noone I've asked has anything nice to say about this car except that it looks nice. What do we do?

Well all I am sorry to know that everyone has been having issues wuth their Calibers. However, I have a 2007 Caliber and haven't had one single problem with it. I love my car. I get the regular maintenance necessary and go about my business.....

I've been telling people on this site... we all need to get together and sue their butts. I know people have purchased this car and have had no issues but for the slue of people that have had their cars stall, stop, caught on fire, software issues, etc. we all need to get together and do something about this. I've lost so much time and money dealing with the Caliber I purchased... I'm not paying a $600 car note just so my family and I could drive on/down the road with a peace of mind. This car is a piece of crap. I've tried for several months to get another car from Dodge but they did not want to hear it. They would not buy their car back either. So I did what I had to do for me and my family. For one person trying to sue a car dealer(s) it's almost impossible (if anyone has done this with Dodge/Chrysler please let me know the correct process) for the little man to do so. They take all their money and give themselves mega bonus' and spend little on a good car. I had a Neon that did me well; it gave me no real problems. But when I comes to the Caliber... it's SUCKS BIG TIME.

I ordered my Red SXT through my dealer in April 2006. It was delivered in June 2006....Since that day, I have been towed back to the dealer 7 times....the most recent time was March 14 when my check engine light began flashing, it was throwing no codes but, the engine had a distinct miss followed within minutes by a loud knocking, I immediately shut it down. I have just over 75,500 miles on my caliber and have always religiously changed the oil, filters, plugs, etc....this past Monday, I finally got my car back...with a new engine. The service manager said that a "structural failure" caused the main bearing and a piston to fail....and for those techies out there...it wasnt a lubrication issue. The engine replacement was the second major replacement in the past year....the CVT also failed requiring replacement....because of the issues with the CVT and engine, the dealer did a 100% inspection of my car and discovered the tie rod ends were also bad and replaced both....the only bright spot is that because it was first edition, I had purchased the extended warranty....my out of pocket for everything to date totals $41.20.....but, the frustration has been priceless.

I love the car and it now runs better than when it rolled off the truck....but, I dont think I will ever buy a first edition of a new model ever again!! This is the 7th Chrysler product that I have owned and the first with any major problems....I am not yet ready to give up on Chrysler...assuming of course they survive!!

P.S. these boards are great...I have learned so much just by reading about others experiences.....
