I bought an new 05 Sebring for business use about 2 years ago. The car's a Signature Edition and is very nice looking in dark metallic blue. At this point all I can say is - I'm looking forward to the day I can get rid of this turkey without losing my shirt. With 42K miles on it, it's been in the shop for about 3 full months in aggregate. I've had coolant leaks, suspension problems, a transmission failure, and AC problems. I'd lemon law it, but, I can't get the same thing to fail 3 times in a row as required under my state's law - it's always something different. At present the rebuilt transmission sounds like an electric can opener at low speeds, and, has a nice soothing whine to it at interstates speeds. The factory rep and the dealer tell me this is normal - the same thing they told me before the first tranny failed. IMO - don't get all excited about the new 07 replacement for this model - its the same piece of trash with a new skin. Wife and I have had 14 Chryslers over the years, and, our last two Sebrings have been simply awful. We'll be taking our business elsewhere in the future. End of Rant! OldCEM |

Leased a new 2002 Sebring Convertible for 5 years. Boy, it sure looked good sittin there on the show room floor - should have left it there! With in the first 6 months of ownership, it was in the shop 11 times for various things. To be honest, I have forgotten some of the reasons, but here is what I remember: Pulled bad to the right, "they fixed it" - still pulled to the right, While doing alignment they chipped the paint under the wheel well, and skuffed the paint on the hood with a old dirty shop manual. Rattle under the front dash - They fixed it but in the process put a large scratch in the fake wood trim by the radio. They replaced that. Brake clips in the rear make a noise over bumps. Not under warranty cost me $75. 1 year later made the same noise and have not fixed it. Coolent leak - from cracked thermostat housing (made of plastic) - not under warranty for some strange reason. I was very upset because I shelled out extra $ for the extended warranty. Been hit 4 times. Dead battery gave me no warning and left me stranded in a BAD part of town. Tow truck tried to jump - it would start but could not get it into gear with out it dying. Oil leak - some part, that WAS actually under warranty. Only two payments left. Can't wait to get this thing out of my life I will never, never buy another Chrysler again. End of Rant! |

Sorry to hear about the difficulties but I can't agree with oldcem - that the 'o7 is the same car in new skin. Not even close. Rather than be repetitive, I posted my new owner type comments already at Sebring 2007 #10 and First Drive #22. Btw, I called the dealer today to get some specs and asked how it was going. I picked up my car on Monday. They apparently sold three '07's since. I think it's going to be popular. Cheers

I have had a very positive experience with my New 2007 Sebring. The car handles well, accelerates well, and is very quiet and smooth. The leather seating is very comfortable, and I have a friend who has back and tail bone problems, and the Sebring is the first car he has sat in that he doesn't need his prescription cushion to be comfortable. The car looks much more expensive than it is, and everyone I know is impressed and find it hard to believe how inexpensive the car really is. I also get better than the epa ratings on the highway!

Replying to: cliff11 (Sep 21, 2007 3:10 pm) The only issue I've had is that there is a worn spot on the soft top that is about the size of a pea. The dealer's rep took a quick look at it and immediately explained that it was caused by an improper adjustment in the parts that retract. He suggested waiting until it either develops a hole (which has not yet happened) or until the warranty is about to expire. Their solution is to correct the adjustment and replace the top. Can't beat service like that! |
