I don't know if the headend unit is programmed for it. Subaru did make some changes software changes to it. For 200 bucks, that's expensive.
PepBoys has a wireless camera ($120) that mounts on the license plate and sends the video signal wireless to a display unit that you can mount on the dash. I think right on the passenger airbag indicator is a good place for it

SE Grill by cluelesspa

well I took the grill to get powder coated and found out ... get this the frame of the grill is PLASTIC. the only metal part is the grill itself which seems aluminum.

I was going to get this part powder coated but the side grills are put together with plastic snap tabs that are not really designed to come apart. It looks like I would have to break the plastic to get it apart so I could remove the grill material

so it looks like it will get installed with the chrome finish. I have yet to see a SE Tribeca yet on the road so it will stand out even if its factory chrome.

Can they just paint the whole thing one color?

I'm curious because if I get one I may try the same thing. Can you take photos of the grille now that it's removed? I can host them for you.

Actually to powercoat you need a metal surface. so the everything but the actual grill material itself (the mesh) is plastic. it looks cromed metal but its plastic.

the option is to paint it not using power coat but I would not recommend that as its not too strong and would end up chipping being on the front of the car (which would look worse then leaving it chrome)

the parts look just like the photo on subaru parts for you .com

Tim, I am pretty sure now that the figure quoted me was not accurate, based on all the other quotes I got later. And, it was addressed directly to me personally from a dealer that knows me, so I doubt it would do you much good. Still, ask around at your local dealers and see what kinds of answers you get. I as pretty amazed at the wide variety of $$ I was quoted.

Hey Karen, a little off topic, but where are you in AZ?

I'm flying in to Phoenix on Thursday, then driving to Tucson for a baptism. Any suggestions for a can't-miss sight?

I tried to rent an Outback but could not find one. I'll ask again at the car rental desk.

Grill was installed last night. it looks good, chrome on a Silver B9. its raining today so take pics later to post. Dealer charged like 2.5 hrs to install using the alternate install instructions that came with it. installing from the bottom of the vehicle on a lift.

they said it took more like 3.5 hrs. but still charged me the $143 labor to install. Definitely an upgrade to the front end. left the logo on because its true there is a large metal plate on the back side that is welded to the mesh screen that would be left over if I removed the Subaru Logo

Can't wait to see pics...

I've thought about removing the logo on my Forester and painting the back of it green to match the body. Apparently it's transparent, but the back is painted black.
