I used to have a Garmin stuck on the windshield, it worked great (and also got me a ticket for obstruction of vision, in NJ, it is against the law to have stuff on the windshield). The integration of the systems is fantastic and I love the voice recognition, it works well. It is so much better than the Garmin and the screen size is bigger.

Hated that I had to get the nav to get the stereo.....however the 2K buys you a lot more than just the nav. Personally I prefer my magellan, but the tech package piggy-backed onto the nav along with the stereo is WELL worth the $. The G's interior is very well laid out, why pay the kind of money I sunk into this car and only spoil it with wires or things hanging from the windshield. In any case, you get the HP with the G, why not set it apart from the rest of the cars on the road by adding the creature comforts it comes with. Spoil yourself, I am sure you have worked hard to deserve it

So I have a restaurant (lets call it Rooneys) in my Nav locations and want to just say "phone" and "Rooneys" but dont want to enter Rooneys into the phonebook.. I'm about ready to purchase a G35 Journey with Nav. Does anyone know if there's been a new version of the software released - should I be concerned that I have the latest data, are all G35's being delivered with the most-recent data? Thanks. Replying to: cdreier (Apr 20, 2008 3:14 pm) Zenrin claims that the latest map updates are due out in May.   http://www.zenrin.com/infiniti/HDD8/   As far as changing the command sets / voice commands / etc. Nobody's mentioned a new version of that software afaik.   If I were buying an 08 right now I'd make the dealer include the first map update (as I did when I bought my 07 in November of 07). Replying to: adamr001 (Apr 21, 2008 5:17 am) On a side note, my friends 08 recognizes some newer CDs that my 07 doesn't know... which causes me to use the MusicBox software to update the info online.   I'm wondering if the navi update would include a Gracenote DB update as well, or if Infiniti has anything in the works for the Gracenote DB at all. I'm coming off a G35x 39 month lease that had a Nav system. It was a love/hate relationship from the start. It was DVD based, updated twice, and the never ending frustration of the lockouts has me questioning whether to go into another Infinit lease. I'm looking at the EX. Is the NAV system, with it's lockouts, still as frustrating as ever? Has anyone heard if Infiniti will unlock their NAV system for use while driving?
