WTF... that's not fair.
You have the camera and should be allowed to use it. The fact is that the rear window in the G is pretty high and even with the use of your side mirrors, it's difficult to determine where the rear bumper is.
No two cars park alike. You have a back-up camera and he has no right in covering it.

Luckily, when the moron is not in the car with his clipboard, the backup camera works quite well. You can get within less than an inch of your target and it covers most of the width of the car as well. Anything you can't see in the camera, you can see in your side mirrors.

Nav System Freeze by alang4

Has anyone else experienced an episode where the nav system freezes? I got into my 08 G35x, turned it on, and the nav system wouldn't do anything but play the music box song I was listening to when I last got out of the car 3 days ago. The clock had the wrong time, the climate system was off, couldn't do anything with it. I tried pressing a couple of buttons down for a while to try to reboot the system, but eventually it just rebooted on its own.

Does anyone know of a way to do a manual reboot?

Is the Navigation Package worth it? by tu13es

I'm looking into getting a G35/G37 in the next few months. I can't find much information on the nav system; Infiniti's site has very little info and I haven't been able to find a good extensive review of it.

I've not owned a car with a nav system, so I don't have much to compare to. It's just quite expensive ($2150), and I'm wondering if I might be able to do better myself with a standalone GPS unit or a carputer.

I don't really need the traffic stuff much as I'm living/working in the southern NH/northern MA area. I'm not even sure if the traffic stuff would work here.

The hard drive could be nice for music, but I'm sure I could find a way to hardwire my iPod and do things that way.

The voice recognition seems like it could be handy. Also, I love the idea of having a touchscreen to control things.

I'd appreciate any helpful thoughts, advice, or any links to any reviews of the system.

Thanks, all!

I have a G35x w/Nav, backup camera, plus every option one can buy - works great altho you can't use routing while the car is in motion, nor can you watch a DVD while you're driving (I can't imagine why anyone would want to, but some do! A ready supply of potential organ donors ). I think it was worth the money for the convenience and have found it very accurate for myself. Some people think it sucks, but it's a personal opinion. My personal opinion is hanging an aftermarket unit on a windshield of a $35K+ car is kinda cheesy.
Harddrive is nice; it already has a connection for an IPod so you don't have to jury rig things; with XM, CD, AM/FM, Hardrive, SD Card -- I can't imagine why anyone would "want" for more music -- frankly, it's approaching ridiculous.
Voice recognition is neat, I guess - I don't use it, too quirky and I can manage nicely by straining myself and pushing a button.
I'm sure many others will chime in and give you their thoughts - remember, it's all a personal choice.

I didn't think I wanted the nav system, but after having it now for almost 2 months I wouldn't think twice again. It works great, the voice rec system is awesome and the Music Box means I don't have to have CD's littering the car - plus I have instant access to all those CD's.

The traffic system is almost useless, IMHO. I will not be renewing the trial subscription.

Absolutely! I used to have a Garmin stuck on the windshield, it worked great (and also got me a ticket for obstruction of vision, in NJ, it is against the law to have stuff on the windshield). The integration of the systems is fantastic and I love the voice recognition, it works well. It is so much better than the Garmin and the screen size is bigger.

I've been a portable nav user since my 5 year old mio and now have a magellan. Hated that I had to get the nav to get the stereo.....however the 2K buys you a lot more than just the nav. Personally I prefer my magellan, but the tech package piggy-backed onto the nav along with the stereo is WELL worth the $. I have a 6 disk "6 pack" in my trunk in a 13 month old car that I have never used...there is that much music storage capability in this thing.

Personally I hate having wires hanging all over my car. The G's interior is very well laid out, why pay the kind of money I sunk into this car and only spoil it with wires or things hanging from the windshield. In any case, you get the HP with the G, why not set it apart from the rest of the cars on the road by adding the creature comforts it comes with. Spoil yourself, I am sure you have worked hard to deserve it
