Infiniti removed these commands as part of a maintenance update shortly into the 2008 production year. I went through the same confusion as you - see earlier post. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed as have been others on this forum. The going recommendation is to file a complaint with Infiniti Consumer Affairs with the hope they will provide an update to restore them.

Okay, thanks....as long as I know I am not alone, nor going nuts trying to figure this out.

I don't know why Nissan is doing this for movement, but it's really quite annoying. I'm not sure if I'd like to open up my dash (completely voids all warranties if they find out after you screw it up) for that, but can't you just do voice command entry while moving or is that disabled too?

Voice commands are available at any time and at any speed.
The lockout is an annoyance to me though. Not only does it lock out the navi and all it's little side options, but they locked out comfort settings and stereo options as well. Voice commands are avail, but I have not honestly given it the time to learn them all and searching for something while driving has proven to be next to impossible.
Our other car is an 06 Acura MDX and nothing is disabled. In fact, I could even do my taxes at 80 MPH with the built in calculator if I felt like it.

Yes, it's a possible problem for some as it could take your attention from the road, but my wife and I enjoy the fact that it's not locked. We let the passenger do the navi work while the driver keep the eyes on the road. On road trips to IL, I drive and she searches for food, hotels, gas stations, etc.

I'm not worried about warranties too much. I've been elbow deep into enough dashboards to be comfortable with the install.
Heck, I just pulled my airbag and steering wheel out to install paddle shifters in my G35x. If I'm comfortable with that, a little soldering to a board is gravy.
Like I said, I'll just let the people who just have to be first in line be the guinea pigs and once any bugs are worked out, I'm all in for the mod.

Well, at least the voice commands are there to input destination and such. I rarely use mine on my current TL, and I must say that it's a bit disappointing to hear that Infiniti locked all that out as I was really. We have a 07 Murano, and it's quite annoying not being able to input anything while moving.

I can do soldering work and such, but I'd be worried about taking apart my dash unless there were pictures and instructions.

Why would you make a fuss about the missing commands? On principle, or are there some voice commands missing that you really think you need?

Is there a way to change to voice of the guidance in the nav system? Is it always female?

No option for changing the voice... always female.
And no Southern or British accents either.

Infiniti Nav vs. Acura/Honda by waltaz

I just got a G35 for my wife, and like it so much, I'm considering trading my '06 Pilot w/Nav for an EX35 or an Acura RDX. I didn't get Nav in the G because my wife wouldn't use it, but I definitely like and use it. I'm used to the Honda nav in my Pilot.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but are you telling me that the nav in the Infiniti is locked out while you're driving, except for voice commands? That would suck, because I, or my passenger, uses it alot while driving for whatever. The Honda/Acura nav is not locked out at all.
