Got mine back, after lots of bodywork and nearly complete repaint. The car looks almost like new. A friend who can disassemble and completely reassemble a car all by himself looked at it. He couldn't even tell the rear quarter had been replaced. The paint match is NOT exact, which is to be expected. In the sunlight a little purple-ish tint can be seen. It's pretty cool actually.

I did discover moisture build-up in the left-rear tail light. Usually that's a sign of a hairline fracture that can't be seen. The dealer took my word when I walked in there, and vowed to call insurance, get the o.k., and have the part in a day or two. It is a 5-minute, 3-screw install.

Glad to be back in my car, and into a stick shift.

Will see doctor soon, as my ache, which is NOT bad btw, but is persistent, refuses to go away. Probably a bruised rib and/or a stretched ligament.

Plan on replacing the lease with an Integra next year. Need to get back into a stick, I think. OK, ok, I'll at least drive a CL-S.

Getting a job offer for good raise, and to get back into the computer industry, which I miss. (I'm a mfr engineer now.) It's 4:30, and I woke up at 3:50, kind of stressed, because I couldn't make a decision last night, and I need to ASAP. People are counting on me to be their hero where I'm at, and make their lives better. Hmmm...

alan927: Where did you take the Skip Barber course? I took it at Lime Rock, CT. But they wouldn't let me drive my own car on their Autocross. That's a great advantage as you need to practice performance driving (and know the limits) with your own car.

Obi: Try Zaino on your CL as it has very good anti-static properties which will keep the dust down.

And Guitarzan: I know you love a good 5 speed (I still find my left foot going for the clutch), but you've got to test drive this new 2001 CL-S. And that's from an Accord Coupe owner.

Just got rid of my 91 Maxima.
My wife gets the new CL Type S
Love the car. WE looked at the 323,Z3 and Saab93.(my son has a 9-3)
Nothing on the market compares to the "S"
Power features luxury it has it all!
Lots of room, and we still have a 96 Maxima SE if we need more.
I handles fantastic! so far almost 30 mpg on the highway 24.5 overall.
And at only $28,200 it is a steal!
Most definatly a step up from the Maxima"s
don't get me wrong i love our Maximas, I put 182,000 on my 91. But we don't need another 4-door.

Curious about your opinion on the 9-3... CL would be my first choice but I'm sure you've read about my headroom problems. Did you compare the base 9-3 Coupe to CL? How do you think an SE Coupe (which Saab doesn't build) would compare to a CLS?

I just bought an 01 cl and it feels like at least half of the time it goes to shift into second gear... i does this sputtering thing. It kindof hesitates and sputters about 3 times and then shifts. That is my transmission right? What should I do? Also I need to replace my motor mounts. Any advice would be appreciated thankx

It sounds like your transmission is having the same trouble that was common to this model year. Acura had just replaced the 4-speed auto tanny with a new 5-speed auto in 2000, and unfortunately there's been a huge recall of CLs and TLs equipped with this transmission. I believe there is a 5-year/50K warranty on the drivetrain, so I'd call Acura right away and see if you're still covered. Considering that it's an '01, I'd do this soon! With regard to the motor mounts, if they've worn prematurely due to drivetrain problems, Acura should also cover their replacement. Sorry to hear about the trouble. Good luck!

I got my 01 cl a couple of months ago and it has 93k on it. The transmission seems to sputter whenever shifting into 2nd gear... whether im accelerating or decelerating. Should I take it to the dealer? also... has anyone ever took it to the dealer while under the 100k warranty and been told they would not fix it or that the trans isnt bad (to avoid doing $4000) in free repairs?

I just ordered my Cl-S, Blk/Blk w/nav. I think I worked out a pretty good deal, $31,200 which included the muds, sunroof wind deflector (not sure if I'll keep it on the car though). Options I had to pay for (dealer cost I was told) included Spoiler, tinted windows, (35%) Gold emblem pkg., interior wood kit (not the gray), and (before you flame me,let me explain) body side molding. The molding is blk and about 1/4" thin. I saw it on a white cl-s and didn't like it but figured it might not look bad on black cl-s and should help with light bumps etc. Car is due in a few weeks. I've been following the posts in these forums for a few months now and found the topics very informative. Based on my personal experience with Acura (92 Legend coupe, 95 Integra, 97 3.0 cl), I'm fairly confident (& hopeful) that the people of Acura will correct the problems that I've read about such as the speedo and sunroof rattle etc. I, as many of you, will try to find an alternative to the driving/fog lights. One perk I didn't think about asking the dealer...remote start. With the "kill switch" can a remote start be installed? I remember seeing the posts a while back that said it might be a problem. Any new info? BTW, purchased car at Acura of Westchester/NY. Pretty much hassle free. IMHO, I don't think the price will get much lower on these cars.

Maintenance Question by tomsr

I just took my 98 CL in for a 45K service.
According to the manual it was suppose to
have brake fluid and coolant changed. The dealer
said the maintenance schedule had been changed
and those were not required at this time.Is this
right? Is Acura attempting to make it last less
years? I doubt if they just want to save me money!

Hope to join many of the Type S owners in the posting. Has anyone had any dealer and pricing information for either a Type S or S with Nav in the Atlanta area.

Thanks,
