The Lucerne needs to have a 6 speed auto tranny to be competitive with similar cars in its class. Maybe in the 2008 model!? Come on Buick, it's long overdue.

6) I also like the 3.9 liter (I test drove the Impala LTZ) in the Lucerne. However, I also think the 5.3 liter V-8 (I test drove the Impala SS) should be offered in the CXS model. It has more low-end torque than the 4.6 Northstar, and also has active fuel management (aka DOD).

I had a Lesabre "T-type" when I was 18.. Nobody even new what it was..It was such a sharp car.. It was an 88 model and I happen to see one the other day. Of course it was old and beat up but was still an eye catcher.. Wish they would bring something like that back. It was luxiourious and sporty for a Buick.

I just found out from my local Buick dealer that the 2008 LaCrosse Super will be getting the 5.3 liter engine plus a heavy duty trans and suspension to handle the 303 ponies.

Provide Lumber in Lucerne for Cloth by kkeyes01

You cannot get lumbar for the cloth seat in the Lucerne. Its hard to believe that it is not even an option. I suggest they add lumber as an option for the car. In my opinion, it should be a standard feature.

Suggested Improvements by richmosar

1. Better lighting (i.e. optitron) of the dash and guages like most under $20K Japanese cars have. It's a shame that a $30K-$40K car such as this does not offer this.

2. Split folding rear seats

3. Kill the ash tray and replace it with a storage area for CDs.

4. Offer the better (i.e. firmer) suspension that's available in the V8 to the V6 models, especially with gas at $4 a gallon.

5. Kill the lame port holes

6. Offer a darker colored leather in the V6 models. The very light tanned leather looks like it will get dirty easily.

I want Buick to pay attention to my complaint of sudden engine failure on interstates with our 2006 Buick Lucerne. My letter to GM's CEO was received by GM on July 10th at 2:51 but no reply has been received by today. Five repair departments have been involved-the two recurrent problems -one above plus four episodes of not starting or even cranking seem to keep involving the wiring harness. Two repair depts genuinely felt they "fixed" the problem and we trusted them at first. Now we are involved with the original dealer who is fluffing us off-this car is a major hazard to us and others. We want a fair resolution. Suggestions beyond notifying BBB and NHTSA as stated in the manual is needed. We have an over $30,000 car sitting in our garage-useless because I am terrified to drive it on the highway.
