2007 Sebring Limited 3.5L questions, info... by flash11

Still have not seen any 2007 Sebring Limited 3.5L's on the lots to test drive, still waiting, it is now 18 Nov.06. Posted a question earlier, will ask again. Just for kicks, does this car come with a cdi diesel 2.0 engine option ? Wondering what the hp and gas mileage is on the diesel and can we buy this option in the US ? Also, does the 3.5L come with a flex fuel E85 compatibility ? I saw the SEMA Sebring I love the design improvements-love the change to the hood. FYI a fully loaded (with every option imaginable) 2007 Sebring Limited 3.5L according the Chrysler website calculator is $29,100 MSRP,pretty good. Any thoughts out there ??

This is actually a "First Drive" forum, but I see you guys talking about details from this car, so let me share my thoughts...

I sat today in the new Sebring. Did not drive, but played around inside. There are some nice-looking and solid feeling materials - especially I love the climate controls, which are large, simple to use, and has good feel - unlike the stereo system dial which was not so sweet feeling.

I also liked the noises of opening the door handle and the thump of the car closing, which seems to be of higher quality. But the stereo definitely needs improvement. The Signal lever does not have a good quality feeling either, compared to Toyotas and Hondas.

While the green-backlite gauges isn't so bad, it's certainly not as nice as the optitron gauges in the competitors. And the ignition key ring insert is not illuminated either.

I really appreciate the large interior door handles, which is almost as big as in the 300. My Chrysler minivan is very small and is a pain to use.

Overall it looks like a very good shot to me, and although it's not something special, it's at least not behind other mid-size sedans.

Sorry, but this one is facially challenged by m1miata

Was not impressed with the preview photos, but thought I would go down and view this car at the dealership. Sorry to say, the poor thing is somewhat facially challenged, I guess the new speak terminology is today. While the Saturn Aura is a step forward for GM and the Mercury Milan is an elegant looking car, Chrysler has taken a nice flowing design of the previous model of Sebring and somehow jumbled up the design to the point that it looks like a car pieced together by committee. Perhaps worse than the Ion auto. No two parts of the design look good with each other.

From everything I read, the available engines are 2.4 I4, 2.7 V6 and 3.5 V6. No diesel availabel for 2007. I think the diesel is for other world markets. Not sure about the flex fuel. Not a fan of E85 but that is another topic.

Depends on what you want by giggs

It's sporty and has an entry level elegance to it - the '07 3.5 limited. The 235 h/p engine with 231 torque is mated to a 6 gear tranny. Probably not necessary - but heh they're trying. A 5 speed would have been just fine. If this was an all-wheel drive and they gave it a different name - I predict this car would take off in the market. Probably they were counting on established market share from the old name and lacked the guts to get a bit bold like they did with the 300. Then again, they wanted to go against the Camry/Accord front wheel drive's and not play with the big boys like the G35 or 3 series - so, in hindsight maybe they new what they were doing. But, then again, they gave it a manual/autostick adding a dimension of fun so I don't know if they were able to determine if this car was fish or fowl. Anyway, for a front wheel drive and at this price - I kinda like the car.

Sporty? Try the Saturn Aura XR out some day. Whoa! I also like the Accord SE V6 for a balance of handling and smooth power-train.

We bought an 07 Sebring 2.4 recently and like it a lot. I also own a Caliber R/T so I was ready for the plastic look and the engine noise. Also the cockpit is similar, same platform.

The seats seemed to be an issue at first, but after a few days I liked them, a lot. They are a little narrower than other cars, but this is not an issue for me. The Caliber seats are softer.

I tested several of the other cars this thread talks about. I sat down with salespeople and could NOT negotiate the same type of price for the same options on any other car. Moonroof, remote start, 6 cd, heated mirrors, cloth, pwr wds, drs. Listed at 21,400 by Chrysler site - bought it WELL below that.

After 1600 miles I am VERY happy with it, especially the fact that I do a lot of highway travel (90 miles a day) and I am getting 30 mpg average - by gas receipts. Just on 5th tank now. Too soon to really know the "real" average.

Again, very pleased even though many Mags. and people are bashing it.

I own a 2002 Sebring conv. and have had nothing but problems with it, so when my friend told me he was getting a 2007 Sebring I told him "Good Luck Man!!" Just a month after owning it, he fell asleep at the wheel doing about 80 or so. When he woke up he overcorrected and went into a spin and hit a tree head on. Thank God he was OK, just some bumps and bruises. BUT, the thing that makes me soooo angry, is the Air Bag did not even go off!! This was a NEW car - what's the deal. Like I said I own a sebring and have so many problems with it, I just don't even want to drive it anymore because I DO NOT TRUST IT!! Thank God the lease it finally up.

Test drove a Sebring before buying an 07 Optima. Same basic engine, but the Chrysler version seemed rougher and less sophisticated--not sure why. Also a big difference in interior finishes. Chrysler really has to work in this area.
