I'm not really sure what the complaints are about. The styling is a notable step up compared to a number of other cars (*cough*...'07 Camry...*cough*), the pricing is very reasonable and the power, as listed, looks on par or slightly better. Not to mention that the Sebring's competition isn't what I would call breathtaking either. I'd say this vehicle is definitely an improvement over past iterations of the model. Suffice it to say, I'd certainly consider it on my list if I hadn't just gotten a vehicle last year. I'd have to say that this writeup seems to be a somewhat-biased shrugging off a one domestic manufacturer's success at improving a model in their lineup.

(I just bought a Prius at $900 under sticker price so I know you can bargain with Toyota..they want market share). At 30k for a 235HP V6 (which is 10hp below accord..33hp behind Camry and 25hp behind the Altima ..it looks like they are still playing catchup) I would LOVE to buy American. I took my mom out to get her a new car and I said lets drive the 4cyl Fusion.. she just drives around slow.. and it's a decent car inside & out.. but the 4cyl with a 4 speed automatic she complained hesitated like her 1990 Dodge Caravan. We then drove a Mazda 6 ( I didn't tell her it was pretty much the same car) and she LOVED it.. and I even thought it felt spritier.. so I looked up some specs and it has a 5 speed automatic.. maybe that was the difference.. why can't Ford do the same thing??? an extra gear.. come on.. 1 more gear.. 5 speed would even be good enough.. more mileage.. better acceleration and better drivability... all for cheaper than the incentives they add onto their cars!

I for one can NOT wait to get my hands on the new Sebring; especially with the 3.5L. Chrysler is going after the Camry, Accord, Altima and Maxima.. With one lone car. I was stuck driving an 06 Camry with the 4 cyl for a couple of days and unless the Sebrings 4 cyl has lost substantial power; I'd take it any day over a Camry. I often felt I was in my OWN way. The Camry may well be a quality car, but it would be a sorry ride to tolerate for 200K miles. I would like to see Chrysler put a HO motor in the Sebring, to make it boldly take down the Altima and Maxima which it looks like it will already be doing on this incarnation. Altima with the touring, and the Maxima with the Limited. Anybody that has been ruling out Chrysler in favor of imports in the past needs to give the latest a closer look and see the levels of refinement. I will acknowledge you can still feel in the interior that Diamler is afraid to let too much luxury loose into the Chryslers. |

| The write-up was not fair -- this car is a complete disaster. While it's obvious this car is not competing in the "fun" class, they could have done a better job with engines and styling. The interior is still suffering from the outdated overwhelmingly American styling. Yes, it's an American car but when was the last time an American vehicle's interior actually looked sophisticated and sleek? Don't even get me started on the engines...why is it so difficult for Chrysler to make a fuel efficient AND peppy engine? I was excited for this company after the recent success but this doesn't bode well. This car is a move in the wrong direction...Vanilla Way anyone? | |

Replying to: KarenS (Sep 22, 2006 7:34 am) However, in addition to the comments in the first drive, I note that a Camry can list for over $30,000. Meanwhile, a loaded '07 Sebring lists for $26,000. I would think that in this price segment $4,000 represents a lot of money. Additionally, visiting Toyota/Honda/Nissan dealership for "maintenance" tends to be expensive. Priced an oil change at one of the dealership recently? My point is that comparing a Camry/Accord/Altima to a Fusion/Milan or Sebring isn't an apple to apple comparison. |

| you forgot the 2 liter cdi diesel - much better mpg and power | |

Replying to: KarenS (Sep 22, 2006 7:34 am) I think the Sebring will be a good replacement car for my wife's '99 Mazda Protege LX 1.8L. We have second thoughts about buying Japanese again. See below. Reason: My wife's '99 Mazda Protege LX 1.8L hit a pothole and bent the rim slightly (some vibration at higher speeds). When we brought it in to the Mazda Dealer he quoted us for parts totaling $600 not including labor(strut, sway bar, rim, tire). I replaced just the rim, used, $65.00 tire included, problem fixed but lesson learned. My wife freaked. Parts are as expensive as a BMW but it is just a Mazda, and this Mazda is past its 6 year extended warantee.
