Replying to: KarenS (Sep 20, 2006 3:59 am) however, the ~40min/day that i save in commuting time, and the $3 x 2 bridges (going up to $4 each in January) that I no longer have to pay, brings it right back to the forefront of affordability in both a monetary and sanity sense. as for all the performance shortcomings they cite ... my S2000 solves them! once i figure out how to put more speakers in (it has 4 up front by the way!), it will be the PERFECT commuter car for the Bay Area!! thanks for the citation, epi

Replying to: epnfrn (Sep 20, 2006 8:06 am) I bought a '99 GX for the equivalent trade in value of a standard Civic. I commute about 145 miles round trip 4 days a week, with a 24/7 fueling station close to home which makes it very convienient. Driving 70-75 mph I have got as much as 39mpg. The carpool access has saved me enough time to make up for the time to fuel up every night, and I have timed it, at my local fuel station it fills in less than a minute. On top of that it saves me over 200$ a month in fuel over driving a van that gets around 22mpg. Now I just hope that soon we can get some breaks on the tollroads here in southern California. |
