Active steering on BMWs is variable ratio, their standard steering setup still has variable boost. I don't think VW has a variable-ratio system. Audi does as part of the ADS system, but its supposed to be better than BMW's from what I've read.

The inside of the B6 was pretty bad in its first two years or so, but by the end was pretty nice at least in the V6. The 1.8T just had "trim", it wasn't wood or aluminum, and the exhaust wasn't chromed and was on one side. The B7 was a definite improvement, but it was basically just a shrunken A6, both outside an in. That interior design was nice, but it looks old. The B8 looks much more modern on the inside, as is hugely more interesting to look at on the outside, especially with the S-line treatment. Comparing the prices of left over cars BMW is desperate to get rid of to a brand new Audi isn't really fair. A loaded '09 335xi, with everything but active cruise control, is $54K. Will BMW give you four grand off on that? |

When starting out though, it's a bit loose for me. However, it is indeed a miracle to find such steering in its price class and the steering is dead on accurate with decent road feel. After tomorrow, I will be abandoning that vehicle as my highly polished ultra clean 328i will be delivered to my front door. I hope their aim is better than the newspaper delivery guy's. |

Hey how come everybody else get their share of politic ramblings Obama maybe have the "fresh" ideas, but I still doubt his experience, or to be exact, his lack of. He's got Biden, maybe he'll cover Obama's lack of experience. But if Biden will do most the work (and he most likely will) then isnt it proper to say that Biden is the actual president while Obama is the vice president? What about the tax policy? What the heck is that? Why must the high-income spend more money saving the low-income families? Saving them is the government's responsibility. I say just leave it the way it is, perhaps lower it for the sub 50k/yr group, but dont raise the others'. Should they have to pay the raised taxes for income distribution, they should ge the credit, not the government. We make big bucks the hard way, earn it, and we shouldnt receive penalties for being the better half of the bunch. McCain is deemed too liberal for the republicans, while democrats still doubt his policies. I feel bad for him, half the damage he takes he inherit from Bush. However, I dont like the idea of keeping troops in Iraq. Its a waste of money. I mean come on, cut the "we're fighting terrorism" crap, we all know US wants the oil, period. Stop the hypocrisy already. Another weak point is Palin, a terrible choice for VP, that air-head doesnt even seem to know what shes talking about. Should we really want to stop all threats, why not blast Iran and N. Korea? Because they can fight back. Worse, Iran can cut all Hormuz oil supplies and bloat oil prices in no time. When that happens, America takes the hardest blow. Afghanistan was the only real counter-terrorism act (which I supported), ther rest are all greed. America has become an oil looter and that disgusts me. To me both will do equally lousy jobs. Obama heading towards socialist path with all the involuntary income distribution, and McCain with his one-sided focus on saving the rich's butts and plotting world war 3. Involuntary income distribution, and the government gets the credit? Yeah right. Do I feel simpathy for plumber Joe? Yes, do I care about saving him? No. Its not my fault he's becoming who he is now, nor its my responsibility to help him. Its the government's and Joe's own duty. McCain meanwhile will only make the rich-poor gap even wider. Besides, be it Democrat or Republican, we all know all the raised taxes will just go to pointless crap like Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. Or the alternative, saving Wallstreet or other conglomerates like GM out of bankruptcy. Thats why I say lets donate money through social charity chanels and the rising taxes can go to hell. the same goes to "Buy American". No offense intended to those who believe in the slogan, but I simply dont. Why spend $200 on RCA TV when I can get the superior Japan built Toshiba or Korean built Samsung for the same amount? Because its made in USA? Oh, please... Change? What will change? (some points taken from TM's earlier post) We're all worried that so many Americans have no health care and go to bed hungry. This Obama may be able to ease by the tax breaks and incentives, but will there be a radical change? I seriously doubt it, tax cuts alone wont be enough imo. IF he's got the guts to change the health care laws and immediately send our troops back home, he'll have more money to spend on saving the "poor". Dependance on foreign oil is not changeable even in a million years. Here's the problem: too many motorists, too few national oil. So please stop all your ramblings on no more oil dependency unless every American is willing to make sacrifices (they wont). Support McCain because he will assure our security from terrorism. Terrorism schmerrorism. We get one, ONE terrorist attack and everybody goes frantic. The rest of the world get 1 million attacks and they dont panic as much as americans do. Go figure. Neither McCain nor Obama can handle terrorist attack if the government has no money left to supply our troops. Guess what? They already lost most of the money on federal bailout. Was USA strong under Bush? No, we simply got tougher on defense based on FEAR, should no terrorist attacked, not even Bush jr. would do a darn thing about our military defense. Otherwise he would've toughened our defenses long before Osama striked, making 9/11 impossible to happen. Btw, regarding those worried about border securities, no worries people, most illegal immigrants are going home because there's no job left here. Fairly speaking, Obama is the less horrific, but overall, both prospects suck. So no, I wont vote, tehres no point in it. I've let it out my system

Regarding the upcoming Lexus RX : WHOA UGLY !!!!!!!! Honestly next to this thing the outgoing model looks positively handsome and aggressive in comparison. I'm no fan but to me the outgoing RX looks pretty good inside out, the new one totally ruins it. "54k? A 335i competitor? At this economy one can easily get a 335i with sports and premium at around $42k. Do you mean a left over '08, or one of the new '09s at $42?" Yeah the leftover 08s are sold so cheap here, not 42k but they offer $500 over invoice tops (less selling ones offered for invoice). What about the 09s? Well you can easily get a loaded 09 335i for $1000-1200 over invoice at highest. BMW is struggling guys, as indicated by september sales plumetting by about 80% worldwide. For the 1st time I agree the white exterior looks good, tho my ultimate choice remains blue (topaz?). If only BMW can offer better interior colors. The grey is downright cheap, the black is ok but tasteless for my flavor (only Audi and MB got blacks right imo), leaving only beige as an option (color deseprately mismatched with the dark wood trim). What about cream? How come BMW offers one in the 6-series but not in the 3??? H, that carcoholism is incurable, just look at Jay Leno |

Sorry if I offend anyone here, but for now I HATE PRIUS DRIVERS!!! When I had my bmw these people gave me the finger everytime I passed them, now I drive a TSX and they still give me the evil eye, what the heck is wrong with them? I cant imagine their expressions when I get a new car, which will most likely be a performance 6-cyl or a v8. When you get your hybrid I hope you wont become one of them, dewey (the rednecks I mean). P.S: I have 2 names for you my friend: Radar Detector and Valentine One. dm1212, no offense but imo Audis are no longer reasonably priced. Loaded A4 2.0 and 3.2 cost 45k and 51k respectively (I heard the 3.2 even cost 53k loaded), comapre it to loaded BMW 328 and 335 which cost about 42k and 48k respectively, or MB C300 and C350, 40k and 44k respectively. This means the Audis are most likely to become the priciest of them all. Oh and a loaded 335xi cost 51k here. "Thats disapointing to hear. ML is so unreliable. Girls love their Benz's. " So true, to most girls - and women I know, the MB and Audi are first choices, with Lexus and Jaguar being the alternatives. Most of the time beem... whoooppss, sorry... bimmers never even cross their minds (an equivalent of fully testosteroned males, they say). |

Replying to: m4d_cow (Nov 01, 2008 11:41 pm) I think Audi's price increases coincide with a change in the company's attitude. They now believe they are on par with BMW, and they're going to charge what BMW charges. If you just go by MSRP, the 3 is still a bit more expensive, and I don't know about the C-class, but the bigger Benzes are still significantly more expensive than their Audi competitors with no real justification for the premium. Personally I'd take the new S4 over the 335xi. I think it's a better looking, more spacious and more practical car, and I like the design better. If I have to pay a bit more, then so be it. The Audi brings more to the table. The 3 coupe though is much better looking than the sedan, and that's a much tougher choice. I could live with the new iDrive system, and I don't think either the A5 3.2 or S5 are perfect. If the S5 also had the 3.0T engine and the QuattroSport rear differential, than I'd go for the Audi, but as it is, I don't know. Fortunately I'm not interested in that segment so I don't have to think about it. I'm more interested in the Gran Turismo vs. the XKR. Radar detectors used to work for me, but once our state troopers started using instant-on and laser, I got a string of tickets and that was the end of my speeding career. The detector might as well've flashed "you're busted!" for all the good it did. I've found that restricting my speeding to either heavy traffic safety nets, or a bit of on-ramp fun, and otherwise setting cruise for around 8 over is a good way to stay out of trouble. |
