The current (old) A4 "ties" it in material quality, yes, but the new one takes it a step further. ...but once the design got factored in then it's IS all the way. Again, personal preference. By the way, how much time have you spent in the cabin of the cars on that list? I have a close friend with a G35, so I've driven that several times. I have test driven the 3 Series on numerous occasions. I always sat in the IS (and various other Lexi) when we took the RX in for service. Another friend's mother has a TL, which he has to take for her frequently. The only one I don't know much about is the C-Class. Also, if I am biased toward the IS because I own one then I would say you are biased toward the A4 because you own one. I don't have an A4. At the end, if one WANTS or MUST HAVE super uber luxury to go along with a true off-roading 7-seat SUV then the LX570 is the choice. Otherwise, the LC could offer exactly the same performance with no wood trims and a more "mainstream" interior for at least $10k less. The relationship between the LX and LC is just like Camry XLE and ES350. You may not see the point in it but apparently a lot of people do. Again, personal preference. Well, of course Mr. Obvious... The reason you like A4's interior better than others is also due to personal preference. |

According to Autocar, the new NSX will be followed in Europe by a new range of rear wheel-drive sedans. First out of the gate will be a 7-series-fighter set to debut in 2015, then an S2000-based sportscar aimed at the SLK. I don't think Acura is going to let the RL twist in the wind for ten years (that would be even longer than last time), so it will probably be redesigned somewhere around 2011 or so, which would indicate that this "7-series fighter" would slot above the RL. Who do they think will want a $70K car with no more badge cachet than a Phaeton? And they seriously think Europeans want to buy Acuras?

Replying to: lexusguy (Apr 17, 2008 11:43 pm) Of course a RWD flagship sedan from Acura will be a welcoming news but my question is what about those sedans slotted below like the RL, TL and TSX? Is Acura still going to put half-a** efforts into them? Will the TSX continue to be a rebadge FWD Euro Accord? Will the RL continue to be so blend, mediocre and irrelevant? How about the TL, why the base model is still FWD when competitors are all RWD? How about a RWD-biased SH-AWD? Acura simply has too many questions to answer and they are running out of time. They also need to remember that they need to walk before they can run... |

Replying to: houdini1 (Apr 18, 2008 5:33 am) I guess I can only speak for myself, but for me prestige has really been on the lower rungs of my desires....If a car drives in a special way--one I can feel and sense--then it goes to the top of the list...I either appreciate a spartain interior with just the basics or an interior that has very good materials and is tastefully put together,,,The Audi is not nearly as popular a car as say Mercedes, but because of that there aren`t that many around so it is exclusive in that sense, and I like that..Unfortunately the American builders have chosen to produce in mass quantities therefore for the longest time they really haven`t had anything to compare to the Europeans,,,I like the new Malabu though.....We never know when we may be getting a new car, as Jose can attest to, and I firmly believe the fuel costs are going way up, therefore I am following the development of fuel efficiency, but am not going to spend five extra thousand to save a few hundred dollars a year.....I guess the word `prestige` may take on a new meaning shortly Tony

Replying to: anthonyp (Apr 18, 2008 12:13 pm) Car and driver on the new BMW X-6...5K pounds and this?? Did we mention that the X6 xDrive50i laps the Nürburgring nearly as quickly as a previous-generation E46 M3? It does. Perhaps this over-the-top bimmer has a place after all! Do you need a sport SUV or is it a CUV?? Regards, OW

Replying to: lexusguy (Apr 17, 2008 11:43 pm) A new RWD platform for a two seater Acura sounds like a perfect car (S2000 will be discontinued and sold as an Acura instead). There are three things that will save Acura: New RWD platforms that are not shared with Honda, more potent engines and cars that will compete in higher segments (7 series and S Class segment). Sounds like Acura is on the right track and I see little negativity with such news. |
