Anyone who's not blind and spent enough time in both these cars would know that the IS has a better interior in terms of of fit-'n-finish and material quality. Like I said, I am not going to feed you performance specs for the IS, if you indeed care about it then maybe you should do some research. I'll give you a hint though, 71 mph in slalom, do a research and see what category does that kind of number belong in. Keep reading. I said it was pointless because of the Land Cruiser. You should keep reading too because I said the LX is a uber luxury true off-road SUV. Take a look at the LC then you'll realized that thing can't compare with the LX in terms of material quality and luxurious features. I don't hate Lexus Yes you do, with a passion, just admit it...

Replying to: 2001gs430 (Apr 10, 2008 5:32 am) My ranking (material independent): 1. TL - The overall design is just simply superb. Has the best center stack in the industry 2. IS - Has the best gauges, center stack is a bit dull but the center console is the best in class. Simple, clean and elegant 3. G35/37 - The tunnel-view nav screen is getting a bit old IMO, also don't like the analog clock. Love the washi aluminum trim though 4. '09 A4 - Much better than the previous version but I am not liking the center stack design, too bulky. I do like the way it tilt toward to the driver though 5. C-class - Simple, um... that's about it 6. 3-series - Gawd awful, especially with the screen. BMW needs to update its gauges, they look like they belong in the last century. Material dependent: 1. IS 2. A4 (haven't seen the new one so it's based on current gen's material quality) 3. C-class 4. TL 5. 3-series 6. G35/37

Odd, I didn't have any trouble loading LLN's pictures on my end. Let me try some from WCF. In my opinion this is the new best in class interior, and car. As for the 3 series, to me the materials look rich and elegant in a way that the IS and G's do not. It seems to me like a $40-50K car, while the IS and G seem like $30-40K cars. I don't like the iDrive dash growth either, nor am I fan of those old fashioned gauges. Lexus definitely has them beat there. I much prefer the G with wood trim, but there aren't any official shots of it equipped that way. All of the official Lexus shots are unfortunately either in gray or black. http://images.worldcarfans.com/2007/10/2/3071002.001/1075big.jpg http://images.worldcarfans.com/2007/10/2/3071002.001/1074big.jpg http://images.worldcarfans.com/2007/10/2/3071002.001/1020big.jpg http://images.worldcarfans.com/2007/10/2/3071002.001/1064big.jpg http://images.worldcarfans.com/2007/10/2/3071002.001/1060big.jpg |

Replying to: lexusguy (Apr 10, 2008 9:03 am) IMO, the new A4 is just the opposite of the other 3 cars, very busy looking interior. To me, it looks like a cross between the IS/G and the 3 series. I am not sure this interior looks any richer than the others either.

Replying to: lexusguy (Apr 10, 2008 9:03 am) I would like to hear from 2001gs430 on what are his impressions about the IS and 3er interiors since he's the only one here that I know who actually spent good amount of times in both. |

Replying to: louiswei (Apr 10, 2008 9:43 am) - The perforated Leather in the IS absolutely beats the 3's. You have to buy a 7 to get leather this good. - The top dash material look goes to the 3 since I like the smooth finish compare to the IS's rough finish. - The optitron(?) gauges in the IS are my favorite even comparing to my GS and RX. I think only the LS's are as nice. - The rotary control for the IS's moon roof is the best I have ever used. - The push button starter on the 3 seems like a half hearted effort once you see the key fob dangling from it. - The cup holders... well lets not go there Don't get me wrong, the 3's interior is clean/functional and others here would agree with me that the 3 series is about luxury.

Replying to: louiswei (Apr 10, 2008 9:43 am) Obviously interiors are going to come down to personal preference. I actually liked the G's interior more at launch than I do now. After seeing what Infiniti can really do with the EX35, the G seems a bit chintzy. The IS has never really done anything for me. I remember when I first saw the launch pictures thinking "is that it?" Of course the old IS was an economy car on the inside, so it is a huge improvement over that. If I were buying in the segment, the A4 is the one I'd have. |

Replying to: 2001gs430 (Apr 10, 2008 10:24 am) That's actually something they cribbed from VW/Audi. Previous Lexus vehicles have always had rocker switches for the moon roof, while VW and Audi have been using rotary controls for as far back as I can remember.
