Eos Gas by aliceb

I love the Eos!!!

I had had a Cabrio, and was very excited when I heard VW was coming out with a new convertible. The price surprised me (higher than anticipated), but the High Octane gas surprised me even more.

Does anyone use lower (mid-range or low-range) gas in their Eos? Would like to know how the car runs on other than High Octane.

The tech guys at the dealership said that it wouldn't negate the warranty, and all I would see would be less gas mileage.

When I bought my Eos, I really grilled the specialist who gave me the run-down of my new car's features. I've never put anything other than regular in any car I've ever owned, so to go from reg to super gas was a real turn-off for me. I'd already purchased the car, and this guy didn't have any motive for selling higher gas, so I trusted his advice. Here's how he explained it: If you put in the best gas and get better gas mileage, over the course of a year, the actual cost is decreased because you use less gas. He also believes that the car operates better if it's given the fuel for which it was designed. I've filled-up three times and it still smarts to select the premium gas, but I'm getting used to it.
Good luck, you'll love an Eos!

The 2.0L Turbo will, in fact, run better & perform better(MPG) using premium fuel...We have a 2006 GLI with DSG and that is all that I heve ever used. On the other hand I have a '76 MBZ that only likes 89 Octane.

If you really think about it, the avg cost of super/premium unleaded is 20 cents per gallon more so it costs no more than $3 extra to fill the tank with the better gas. I'd rather pay the extra $12/month or $144/year to make sure the turbo injectors stay as clean as possible with the cleaner burning fuel, rather than shelling out possibly hundreds more to fix or replace the turbo.

I've tested the 2.0T and 3.2. I'm leaning towards the 3.2. Anyone have thoughts on the 3.2?
