Replying to: littlered2004 (Jan 04, 2008 8:25 am) Had the same downshift problem with my 2002 Sebring convertible. Chrysler refers to it as harsh downshifting. They have issued at least two Technical Service Bulletins involving 4-3 downshifting. I am not sure what these bulletins say. My problem would show up after my speed had reached at least 30mph and the transmission had gone up to at least 3rd to 4th gear. During slowdown, I would get the harsh jerk at around 25 - 28 mph.   The solution was to have the dealer change and recalibrate the transmission control module. You are looking at a bill of around $200 for the part and $200 more for labor. The don't need to drop the pan to do this. You may have trouble finding the part at an after market dealer like NAPA. For them, it is a non-stock special order with a price tag of $252. It would have to be shipped here (CT) from California. The dealer did the job in a few hours and everything is working fine. Stuck in park and the button does not seem to budge when I put my feet on the brake with the car running. Car has 37,000 miles on it. Does anybody have any ideas

Did the same thing yours did and is now in the shop - said transmission damage clear back to the torque - 1500 - 2000 at last check. Now that I am researching, seems to be a problem. Replying to: kckim (Mar 05, 2008 10:43 am) well, i took mine in, 2004 sebring and they had to take the transmission apart and rebulid it, electronic problem, had a warrenty when i bought it, called wynns, and guess what they didnt cover it, because it was electronic, so we had to put out 1200.00 to fix it. and was ok, had a ten day check to make sure, everything was ok. sorry, bad news, my oil can, red light, is back on now, so i have to take it back again, the light came on the first time, it happened, got fixed , no light, then after 10 day check, its on again, yea. today i had to put tires on them too, again, wow this car has been nothing but problems, money, money. when i did take it in, they ran a test on it, and said, the transmission pump, was bad.
