I am looking at the G-35 and the TL-S. I like everything about the TL-S except the center console pushes against my right leg (it seems this should have been positioned 2" more to the right). I am afraid that this will wear on me as time goes by. Have you experienced this problem?

I have not noticed this. The only downsides to this car is minor quality control issues. The upside is that it handles better than a sedan should and really hunkers down when pushed to the limits.

sloquark, I noticed the same thing and since I have the knees of a 90 yr old (lol), I knew it would be a problem over time. My wife's Accord was the same way and I absolutely hated having to drive it. I spent the whole time with my right hand over my knee to keep the rubbing and hitting down.
I have a G and although the fit feels a little tighter, I have no issues with the center console.
The G interior is smaller than the TL, but for me anyway, it fits like a custom made glove.

I had an '05 TL w/Nav. I'm 6'3" and actually found the TL more comfortable (leg, shoulder, hip room) to sit in than the '04-'05 G that I tested before I bought the TL. Those dang seat controls on the right side of the seat were irritating! I felt the bolsters on the G were a little too snug. They may have addressed this problem since though. The new '09 TL is rumored to "go large" like the accord did if that helps any.

Thanks for you comments guys. I going to give the TL-S one more test drive. I want to like it. It might be in how you adjust the seat. The G-35, however does seem fit better and it seems like a great car. Unfortunately, I can't wait for the '09 TL. I promised my current '01 TL (love this car) to my 18 year old who needs for his summer job.

I've been in my TL Type-S 1 year today (just over 20,000 mi). I am a big dude and have never had the center console rub my right knee. But that may be influenced by 1) seat position and 2) the way your knees are positioned in your natural driving style. All that said, this cars is awesome and I get a LOT of comments at gas stations about its looks. Although the G is a pretty car, it doesn't have the visual draw of the Type-S. For me, the 6-speed stick was a requirement and it was not available on the G35x (although the stick could be had on the G35S, I can't use a rear-drive car in New England).
Although the G boasts 20 more hp, the Type-S is a screamer. More to the point, the exhaust note is fantastic. Beside that, the technology is unparalleled. The NAVI is far superior to the G. And for 2008 they added an interactive feature between outside temp and auto temp control. Everytime I get out of the Type-S I find myself smiling.
Get it in Carbon Bronze and try those seat adjustments again.

tobini, I purchased my CBP/Taupe 2008 TL-S 6M in December and have about 5k miles now. I love the hell out of the car and have no regrets at all. If the silly engineers at Infiniti could have figured out what "overdrive" means it might have swayed to the G35. So far I love the performance of the TL-S and even smirk when I am at the fuel pump because it gets 1-2 MPG better than my old 98 maxima 5M. No small feat when you consider the TL-S Weighs 450 lbs more, has a .5 liter larger engine, and 100 hp more. It's the best of both worlds! Oh yeah, that back up camera rocks! I was able to back up to another car to about 2 inches from the bumper and still read the license number on the bumper mounted plate.

I like the TL-S but for the console, the G35 but or the lousy gas mileage. Last night I test drove a G8 - the car rocks. Would not let me take it too far, said they did not want too many miles on it. I thought that I would move on A G8 but then they said that they did not have a lease program?? That says to me that GM is not willing to bet on the residual values, so why should I take the resale risk by buying. This car had the best combination of ride and handling. Too bad.

I drove a TL-S again and did some seat adjusting. Much better this time. The car is fun. Next week I drive the G35 again, then I will decide which one by the end of the month. Leaning towards silver with taupe in the TL-S and the automatic - love sticks on the week end but not in daily commute traffic. The carbon bronze does a better job with the black chrome wheels. Thanks for the advice.

buying new car out of state

I am purchasing a brand new Acura from out-of-state because they no longer have this model in the trim that I like ('08 TL Type-S) where I live. I am planning on closing the deal with the Acura dealer by phone/fax/Fedex, then having the car delivered to me (i.e., I am buying the car without physically seeing or testing it out first).
Any idea if this is a risky proposition? What are the chances I will get a lemon?! This is a new car from what appears to be a legit Acura dealer. Wonder if any problems I might run into over the ensuing weeks/months can be fixed at a local Acura dealer and covered by the factory warranty, or would this turn into a blame game between manufacturer and dealer of origin, with me left holding the bag?
Thanks in advance for any input.
