My guess is that either the Sequoia schedule for refreshes and updates will be stretched to a much longer cycle (7-10yrs) to amortize the development costs over a longer period of time OR accelerating the refresh schedule by building in the development of a plug-in hybrid sometime during the next 5 yrs. Either approach is a more likely outcome that maintaining the status quo on refreshes for Toyota's large SUVs since I suspect the competition will also be slowing down their development cycle of large SUVs as the sales decline precipitously. New grills and badges just won't have any impact on annual sales (unlike the past). In fact, its unlikely that fresh sheetmetal, new leather and wood or electronic gizmos will boost large SUV sales. Large SUVs are likely to decline as manufacturers continue a vicious battle over the remaining customers that have a "real large SUV need" combined with the wallet for these vehicles and the fuel they use. There will simply be less of these customers to pursue and therefore I see some manufacturers dropping their large SUVs altogether (Nissan/Infiniti for example). The real game changer will be the first manufacturer that can deliver a large SUV with seating for 7-8, towing greater than 8K with 4wd that can deliver 20+mpg. And the only way that's happening in the next 10 years is with a gas/electric plug-in hybrid where the owner can transfer the cost of power consumption from the gas tank to his home utility bill. That's my $.02

Replying to: highlander7 (May 19, 2008 9:44 am) I ordered mine in Dec and received it at the end of Feb. Total order time of about 10 weeks from contract signing to delivery. Thanks for the comments on the combo.

Replying to: hdfatboy (May 19, 2008 11:03 am) BTW, I agree that black is very sharp if it is kept clean and polished. I had three black SUV's prior to purchasing a Silver Sky Sequoia in 2001. It generally looked very clean on the outside even when not washed. However when I bought the 2008 Sequoia Limited I went for the Slate Metallic as I wanted a change after 7 years of Silver. However, It is disappointing that dust etc. shows far more on the Slate than the Silver Sky. I think I was spoiled with the Silver Sky color as far as efforts to keep it looking sharp and I guess I will be spending more on car washes with the Slate Metallic color.

I just received my carpet floor mats for my 2008 Sequoia. In the floor mats there are 2 holes on the drivers seat side of the mat. On the floor/carpets there are also 2 holes. The correct placement of the mats leaves these holes separate by about an inch or so. What is the purpose of the holes? Is there a clip or something that allows the floor holes to be attached to the floormat holes to keep the mat from sliding? If so, how or from where can I order those? Part number?

| Looking for an item that can keep the dogs in the space behind the 2nd row (with the the 3rd row down). Anyone know of a good product that fits well in the 2008 Sequoia? | |
