Most Toyotas are governed at about 124mph top speed.

0% will more than likely continue in June. There are no changes planned for the 09 Sequoia. Toyota has a 5 year cycle on most vehicles. The first three years the only changes are to option packages, and some option add or delete. In the fourth year a "refresh" is scheduled and this usually amounts to a different looking grille, bumper, and tail lights. The fifth year is the same as the fourth and then a re-design comes in again.

I finally got the 4x2 Limited with all the options including the rear bench seat that I had hard time finding. This Sequoia does not have the AL 20" wheel like yours but I got it for $49400 out the door with 0% financing for 60 months. We are really enjoying the truck even with just 1 day. I think I did pretty good with the over cost of the truck.

I bought this vehicle from Legacy Toyota in Atlanta.

I went there because they had the exact vehicle I wanted - Platinum PyriteMica with RedRock. Nobody in the my region (CAT) could/would provide the vehicle - even if I waited for it. The SET region had only one and it was in Atlanta. Long (ridiculous) drive but the wife was very grateful that I got her the color combo that she wanted. Very happy with the vehicle so far. The drive on the highway was great.

Thank you Mack, good information.

I was thinking more in terms of rain sensitive wipers and the smart key system. These are options they may add to make the vehicle different each year. If Lexus had this platform, Toyota probably would not be offering a Platinum edition.

Thank you,
(highlander7) Bob

"Does anyone know of any articles that gives the top speed of the Sequoia? The odometer only goes up to 120 and although I didn't come anywhere near that I am sure that the top speed would be greater than 120. I am just curious what the Sequoia is capable of attaining."

I doubt the tires are rated for speeds over 120mph therefore my guess is that even if the motor is capable of delivering speeds over 120, the Sequoia engine is probably restricted (governed) to a speed less than 120.

Appreciate your response ratomlinson.

I have not seen Redrock, must be a very limited interior. Sequoia's are made in Indiana, wonder why they can't be ordered? My dealer advised it would take month's for a factory order, they no doubt want to sell what they have in stock. You were wise in settling for the vehicle your wife wanted. By getting your choice of exterior and interior color, you both will enjoy this vehicle more.

And thank you for the dealer information.

Mack,

I suspect that with gas prices at $4 and likely to go much higher in the next 5 yrs, the refresh schedule of the past is likely to be severely interupted. My guess is that either the Sequoia schedule for refreshes and updates will be stretched to a much longer cycle (7-10yrs) to amortize the development costs over a longer period of time OR accelerating the refresh schedule by building in the development of a plug-in hybrid sometime during the next 5 yrs.

Either approach is a more likely outcome that maintaining the status quo on refreshes for Toyota's large SUVs since I suspect the competition will also be slowing down their development cycle of large SUVs as the sales decline precipitously. New grills and badges just won't have any impact on annual sales (unlike the past). In fact, its unlikely that fresh sheetmetal, new leather and wood or electronic gizmos will boost large SUV sales.

Large SUVs are likely to decline as manufacturers continue a vicious battle over the remaining customers that have a "real large SUV need" combined with the wallet for these vehicles and the fuel they use. There will simply be less of these customers to pursue and therefore I see some manufacturers dropping their large SUVs altogether (Nissan/Infiniti for example).

The real game changer will be the first manufacturer that can deliver a large SUV with seating for 7-8, towing greater than 8K with 4wd that can deliver 20+mpg. And the only way that's happening in the next 10 years is with a gas/electric plug-in hybrid where the owner can transfer the cost of power consumption from the gas tank to his home utility bill. That's my $.02

WOW, the Black - RedRock combo is stunning, thanks for the pics. Not sure if I am ready to maintain the black, (alot of work), but is very tempting to consider.

Was it hard finding this vehicle?

thanks hdfatboy,

Bob
